Water is very good for your body, and you need lots of it. HOWEVER, it contains NO nutrients whatsoever. You MUST eat food in order to survive. Please consult a doctor before going on any diets. The only sensible way to lose weight is to avoid junk food, do not overeat, AND exercise daily. Do not starve yourself, that is nonsense.

Liquid is essental to life, water can be a part of a healthy diet but can not be the entire diet. Your body needs glucose to provide energy so you are not dead, typically you gain this in the form of calories, this is good. If you are looking to lose weight the only way to do this is by useing more calories than are taken in.

If you only drink water, and not eat anything, your body's metabolism will slow down thus making it even more difficult to lose weight.
This comes from our caveman days when we didn't have food everyday. On the days we went hungry, our metabolisms slowed way down to preserve body fat until we could get another meal.
No good will come from not eating.
If you want to lose weight, think of what your worst eating habits are, and stop them one at a time. We stopped eating Mexican and Italian food and we lost noticeable weight. Then we stopped having junk food in the house. This forced us to eat fruits and other healthy things when we normally would have eaten junk. Later, we tried cutting back on TV, because watching TV makes most people want to munch.
It will take longer to lose weight this way, however, it will stay of from now on. You won't have to struggle anymore.
ALso, if you try a "water diet" you are setting yourself up to fail. THen you will feel bad about yourself.

No doubt water and air are essential for all living things but one can not live without foods which provides different type of vitamins and minerals to our body to grow and sustain that's why only water can not be termed as healthy diet.
