Well now it would make sense that way would it ? :) Just kidding. But since Europe is to the west of Turkey (Turkey being the most Eastern spot of Europe), it is the western portion of Istanbul and the entirety of a few other cities are in Europe and the rest in Asia.

East of Istanbul which is divided by the bosphorus is considered Asia. The cities of Edirne, Kirklareli, Tekirdag, western Istanbul, and western Canakkale are a part of Eastern Trache which is a part Europe.
