No. The connections on the back of the transmitter base don't even have HDTV connectivity.

Depends on how compressed the digital source will be but I dont think that at this point it would be a problem. Digital is digital. One's and Zero's. HD is much better but its the same signal just more of it. As long as it will handle digital it will work. To be sure check to see if its ATSC or QAM compliant. Dont bother asking the sales clerk, they are just their to get a paycheck. The cable companies use microwave transmitters and receivers all the time for their more remote areas, and for the most part they just "pass the signal along from the source". They dont enhance or downgrade it.
