I used to give my dogs Pedigree, But it gave them skin problems, I would like to feed my dogs Bil-Jac, not the dry, but its like $40 for 35lbs, I have 4 PitBulls, & 50lbs last less than a week, 50lbs cost $16..
I dont feed them table scraps, because it a bad habbit. Since they are pits, I have spent a lot of time to make sure they are very, very well behaved. and having dogs that beg for food is the worst, along with dogs that jump.
Like i asked in my last post, ONE of them has very bad gas.
What is a low cost fix to this..
Do you think some thing like "beano" Will work??
????????????????????????????????

First, pits are the best dogs(my opinion) anyone who doesnt like them, for ignorant reasons, if you know the breed and think they are ugly whatever, that's fine, but dont believe in the myth, pet one before you hate one. I have had people pet mine for 2-3 minutes before I tell them what they are and they pull their hand away, I just think "your dumb, you were just petting them and they were fine, what changed?" no wonder I hate people.
Anyway, I use this stuff called Exceed, it has probably better ingredients than Nutro's, and on par with Eukanuba. Really good food, chicken is #1 ingredient, not chiken meal or bone meal, chicken. Has 30% protien, 20% fat, only 16% moisture, great food. Thing is, you can only get it at f-in Sams Club, 40lb. is TWENTY BUCKS, and it really is great food.
Purna is ok, good food for the money, I try to get more for my money so I use this stuff, but it is a REAL pain having only one place to get it. Some pet stores HOUSE BRANDS are usually decent too, same thing you get better ingredients for cheaper. Read the bag, dogs like the same thing you do, you wouldnt want "bone meal" to be the first thing in your food. And lots of protien, too much can be excessive "if" you are not active with your dogs, my two are absolute houses so I go with a high protien food. Hope this helps.

The Dog Chow is pretty comparable to the Pedigree. Neither are best food options, but dogs do okay on either of those if they don't have allergies that would make eating that food a problem. Purina Dog Chow is as "decent" as Pedigree is. It sure beats Grocery store generics and foods like "Old Roy". If you want to feed your dog something that doesn't have toxic preservatives and rendered animal ingredients you can go with other brands that are pricier. Not everything pricier is better.

Defiantely your feeding the corn based food is your problem.
Remember if you feed a quality food you feed less.
Less in less out, dogs without skin and farting problems.
You really should give biljac a try, its worth the little extra, and with 4 pits should last a week, you feed less...really I promise....also may look at www.spotmix.com
get hi - energy kind which is chicken based. You need a good food, not beano....a jar of that would probably be more than the good quality food. Good food will get you the best dogs...
another that is great food is from Sams, called Exceed, in a Yellow bag....There are a bunch of great foods out there...get meat as first ingrd.

I agree with the previous answer!!! Bil-Jac is a junk dogfood!! there are much more sensible priced and locally manufactured dog food that are so much better for your dogs. I feed Crystal
Hi-pro 22 % to all my dogs and run a board. They all get one cup of feed per day!! and all are healthly, energetic and checked regularly by a vet. It runs an average of $13 a 50 lb bag and is not made with junk. My dogs are almost too heavy according to standards and have alot less stool than if I was feeding the same amount of Purina.
Any questions please email me!!

Ingredients in dog food are listed by the most abundant ingredients first so if corn is first ingredient listed food not very good. I donot reccomend buying dogfod at the supermarket. Go to a petstore or a petfood store and check the ingredients. The cheaper the food the more you will have to feed the dog and the more bowel movements the dog will have.

I feed my pits beneful at the moment. I change up every so often because they don't like to eat the same thing. I also feed them Iams and Science Diet. But beneful will be your cheapest food with all the vitamins and minerals as the most expensive foods. You can find it at Walmart. Besides...Purina is just a filler food. You want to give those active dogs something that their bodies will use.

There are definetly better foods out there that are cheaper then Bil Jac that are better foods that the dog will use and not go out as waste. I use Nutro Natural .It's 27.00 for 40 pounds. I just recently purchased Prizm ,which is the generic version of Eagle pack. 40 pounds for 23.00 .I also use Candae which is 36.00 for 40 pounds. With these foods that I mentioned your dog will eat less because it has less fillers in it.

Most mainstream dry dog food is shite quality. If humans recieved the amount of healthcare recieved by dogs in food and otherwise, they'd live to be 50. I reccomend a BARF diet (link for information below). (Biologically appropriate raw food)
http://www.barfworld.com/
I should state I agree with what was stated in a response about ignorance. Most dog attacks are caused by people, not pit bulls or any other breed. I've yet to meet a person as honest or true as any dog.

Purina ProPlan is awesome! That's what my dog eats after trying 3 different brands (he's picky). There are different formulas to choose from so there has to be one they can all eat with no problems. It's a bit cheaper than what you mentioned and if you buy 10 bags at Petco you get one free! I think they also let you take the bag back if your dogs don't like it.

No it's full of fillers and by products that are mass produced to make a cheap product. It is the equivalent to you and I eating McDonald's every day. That is the nutritionally equivalent your dogs would be getting.
