A blessing is a positive thought intented for wishing someone well. Thoughts have power. As to how much energy people can channel into their thoughts depens on their own spiritual evolution and mental concentration .

Just like one builds up muscles by going to the gym, there are practices out there wchich can strengthen the mind as well as the spirit.

The spirit/self/god/consciousness has the tremendous capacity to bless. You can bless yourself too, but in order for it to more effective youi will need to tap into your higher consciousness or god being.

Prayer is a request for God to shower his blessing.

Meditation is the process of reaching the spirit or god state, from which one may invoke blessings.

Blessing oneself (and also the world) is a positive and great thing to do! It affirms your existense as the spirit and not the body and eventually leads you godward.

When a blessing is received from such a person, one can see physical change if intended and it can also uplift and enchant.

Yes, one can bless themselves. The significance of the blessing can be 2 fold. It can alert and get the attention of the powers that be to help in a specific way, and (this is the important one) it affects the blessed person psychologically into protecting themselves. Let me say that again - it makes the person who is blessed feel safer and that feeling of safety is the protection it provides.

Thoughts become things and we get what we expect. If you are worried about something bad happening, chances are you are thinking about it and thinking about and broadcasting it to everyone and everything until it has no choice but to be true. Conversely, if you receive a blessing, a charm - essentially a promise that all will be ok - you can turn off the negative chatter and turn on the "Whew! I am safe now" chatter. It is your belief, one way or another, that makes your circumstances and the strength of the blessing.

That's why religious blessings don't work in opposite camps. An athiest will bristle and think something negative at a christian blessing, thereby making the blessing ineffective.

Peace!

The definition tells us what is significant about a blessing:

1. the act or words of a person who blesses.
2. a special favor, mercy, or benefit: the blessings of liberty.
3. a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness.
4. the invoking of God's favor upon a person: The son was denied his father's blessing.
5. praise; devotion; worship, esp. grace said before a meal: The children took turns reciting the blessing.
6. approval or good wishes: The proposed law had the blessing of the governor.

Can one bless themselves? Yes, For example, one could speak positive words to themselves about themselves. We find it easy to say to ourselves, "you're an idiot" or "that was dumb"; but how many times have we told ourselves, "good job", "don't give up" "stay in there".

Is there any physical change seen?
Physical change is always seen when we are blessed by a person, gift, experience because we are happy. Happiness and laughter are good medicine.

Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Does it enchant and uplift?
Not as in magical, but in delightment and exuberane.

We can make a specific request to God to bless us:

1 Chronicles 4:10
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

Blessings to you!

A blessing is a GODLY thing, and yes you can bless yourself if you allow yourself to be used by GOD. Anyone whether they want to or not can be used by the ALMIGHTY LORD, but only those that recognize him are blessed by the actions, So yes in essence you can bless yourself through the LORD. If you allow yourself to believe and receive him, then you are blessing yourself, I hope you understand what I mean. I do not mean that you have the power to Bless yourself, but that by excepting GOD that is a blessing to yourself! And oh my Goodness to be used by the LORD is the Highest High you could ever feel! It is awes-tricking, and overwhelming at times and yes it does have the power to change people. Just think of Paul on the Road to Damascus. GOD BLess you and have a great weekend :}

When Jacob wrestled with the Angel and separated his hip it says he wrestled all night and would not turn the Angel loose till he be blessed. His name was changed that day from Jacob to Israel ;for as a prince hast thou power with God,and with man,and hast prevailed, a change that he would be reminded of every time someone spoke his name he would remember that day and how the Lord had blessed him.As we struggle in our walk with the Lord our greatest struggles also be come our greatest victories and also our greatest blessings.

Blessings derive from ancient instruction by those who were given authority or priesthood. Anciently it was said only Levite lineage could perform those rituals.

today, assuming a similar priesthood exists, one might expect him to lay his hands on your head and speak to you as if Christ himself was there giving it to you The Blesser prayfully prepares for this blessing through fasting and prayer then proceeds to either give you a blessing of health and healing or a blessing of comfort. Other notable blessings that fall under "comfort" are patiarical, a father's blessing and a babies blessing.

all given by authority and prayfully inspired to give us counsel and comfort while allowing our faith to work the miracle.

In a patriarical blessing, a father lays promises that are instore for the recipient if they are true and faithful. - like a fatherly roadmap of counsel.

if done prayfully, and by authority, this blessing is said to be inspired and no different than if God himself was blessing us.

Nope, I'd rather waste my time helping the community instead of recieving a blessing. I would feel much more personal satisfaction for helping a REAL cause.

The only way you can be blessed is by God, you may not do it yourself.
