Ok, let's separate the posers and the wives who have NO info only opinions and try to answer this person's question. 1st, how does where the Coast Guard get their(not there) money from have anything to do with the quality of a service? Our money comes from the Department of Homeland Security. One of the many job's that the Coast Guard is responsible for is domestic law enforcement on the water the dod cannot do that. However, the rank scale AND pay scale are one in the same so, yes we are really military. And although I would like to blow off your second reason for not joining and just chalk it up to ignorance I can't. Respect is not based on how far off shore you do your job. It is based on how well and how proffessionally you do it, both of which come from experience. Do you think more people are saved 100 miles or 1000 miles off shore?100 obviously. I have been through your Navy RS school,it was one little part of my training. You are lucky if you can find a Navy RS with an actual save. I have over 150. Before you go typing random garbage into a computer why don't you educate yourself a little Jackson?
Real quick about the Marines, this person was asking about C.G. Rescue Swimmers and SEALS, both of which are elite in their respected fields, the Marines are not elite. Although I respect what they do because I was in the 82nd Airborne Division for 4 yrs. before going into the Coast Guard, you can't even compare them to us or SEALS.
The only person that made any sense was Bullbay because of the statisics, think about it.
The last thing I will say is that both Rescue Swimmers and SEALS are experts at what they do and go through extensive training to gain their titles. I don't know what the attrition rate is for SEALS, but ours is around 60% which shows you how difficult it is. I have the utmost respect for SEALS and I would like to think that they can appreciate my job as well. I hope this sheds a little more light on the topic.

let me help you out. im in the navy right now. the navy seals is the most highly trained people in the world. if you want the challenge, the i would go for that. i would not go into the coast guard. for a few reasons. they are not even really military. there paycheck does not come from the DOD. and another, a navy rescue swimmer has more respect because the are out in the ocean, not just around the US.

The army has rescue swimmers too. I propose do you think of that they are going to call the Coast shield while between the adult males falls overboard? on a similar time as the SEALs are positively great swimmers, you do no longer could desire to be a SEAL to be a rescue swimmer. As to the communications in boot camp, they could get to apply the telephones (pay telephones in basic terms, no cellular telephones allowed) specifically circumstances. In my military uncomplicated, we've been given to apply the telephones each Sunday afternoon...if we hadn't screwed up for the period of the week. yet there replaced right into a 2 minute/one call decrease to it. there replaced into genuinely no thank you to receive a decision the two. I in formerly the internet exploded everywhere, so we did no longer have desktops. i do no longer understand in the event that they might have the potential to have that option now or no longer. the main sturdy thank you to have touch is the written letter. Spray it liberally with fragrance, and supply it some heavy lipstick kisses on the envelope! in spite of in case you weren't THAT on the threshold of him. The DIs will in basic terms LOVE that! And he will income from the greater push-ups.

Navy Seals are Special Forces they are much more properly trained than Marines and they comprise of a smaller unit of a few thousands. Only 2 seals die in Iraq the recent some weeks ago he dive on a grenade to save his fellow seal troops. More than 2,400 troops die in Iraq and more than 2000 are marines.

I agree with Katie! My husband's in the Marines and it's tough but my husband says it's worth it. But definitely go for the Navy SEALS if you can hack it!
