Iam going through the same thing with my 11 month old I hate to give kids meds. I do give him teething tablets though they are homeopathic and not bad. the firt ingrediant is camamil which is used in tea. Its not bad for them and you arnt "dopeing" them up.
otherwise I bath him in Lavendar grins and giggles and that helps.

You are the mother, you do what you have to do to comfort YOUR baby. Are you co sleeping with him? You might try that for a while, that might get him to sleep better, you get more sleep and part of all of this might be that he just needs to be near you. 2 months old is early for teeth, so coupled with all the stuff that a 2 month old is still adjusting to in life and then to have that so early is alot for this little guy. You are right to try the orajel, tylenol, you might try infant motrin it is a longer dose so you get more relief for a longer period of time. Meds wear off an 30 mins to an hour before the bottle says give another dose, plus they take a good 30 mins to take affect. So if you have a med that says to repeat every 4 hours, really the baby might be getting two hours of comfort. A dose that works for 6-8 hours is much better. Or you can alternate the Tylenol and Motrin every four hours. I would not do this for more than two days in a row all day and all night long. If you feel that you have done that for two days and it's still not helped him to get over the pain then call your PED. Wet a wash cloth, see if he will chew or suckle on that. Teething is hard, there just is not much you can do. I also wonder if you might not have a baby with a touch of colic. Does this all happen at night or all day long too? If it is in the evening and into the night it might be a little Colic and there is not much to be done about that either. :( Love him, hold him, rock him, sleep next to him and be sure to keep in touch with your PED. You are not spoiling him, you don't want to hear him screaming or crying. He will turn out to be a perfectly fine child even if you hold him every day until he is 1. Do what is best for you and what at the end of the day keeps you sane. Good Luck

Just give the poor child some Tylenol. He cant very well use a teething toy if he is trying to go to sleep, and if he is in pain he wont sleep either. Any pediatrician will tell you Tylenol is okay.

Other then giving the poor child a dose of motrin, rub a little whiskey on his gums, not enough for him to actually swallow, just dip your finger in the whiskey and rub his gums like you would with any teething gel. BTW, I have four kids....

While counting, hold your son and rock him to sleep while lightly massaging his cheeks and temples, (The counting is for you-for patience-while he's whining himself to sleep.)and brushing back his hair, again, very gently and with as much love as you can muster. (Earphones on low with some soft music (on your ears) couldn't be held against you.)...he WILL fall asleep, AND grow out of it, as his teeth grow into him!
'hope this helps- he'll remember your love all through his life-YOU'LL know it!...guaranteed...in more ways than you can imagine! It's all good in the end result! :) u can do it...how?...just do it! :)

Ice or freeze one of his toys thats rubber so it will get cold and sooth his gums. I feel for you, I think those were some of the hardest days and nights during the teething period.

We have sugar free fruit juice pops as a before bedtime treat. It makes my daughter's gums numb and she acts a lot happier afterwards. Maybe that will work for you too. : )
