if someone who has very long hair could explain what they do to maintain and keep their hair in good condition and how they go about looking after it.

I would define very long hair as hair past waist length.

hi!well i have long hair way past my waist...& i love it.to me its not a question of how long it takes to maitain it...u just take care of some thing that u love & just 1/2hr every 2-3 days a week should not take that much of ur time..i just do the basic routine as in regular oiling 2-3 times a week with mustard oil
,shampoo ur hair with wht suits it best eg if u have dry hair then go for eggbased shampoo..always condition it after shampoo..
once in a while if u can spare the time get a hair spa at home that is with natural ingredients like egg yolk..wash after half hr.
.regular trimming every 3 months..plz viist a good reputed hair dresser.its not that hard to take care of it...
.it depends on the occasion.to keep ur hair open or.plaited..

I have hair almost to my hips. I love it so it's not a problem at all to take care of. I wash it every morning and use conditioner from like my shoulders down. Then I apply some leave-in conditioner for breakage on the ends and blow-dry it. Sometimes I spray it with something to protect it from heat damage, as well. It takes about ten minutes, unless I curl the ends or do something cute with it.
Oh, and I wouldn't suggest wearing it in a ponytail TOO much. It's sore sometimes when I take it down (the wieght of it shifting, I guess), but only if I leave it up ALL day.

Past the waist length is just crazy. I would say it would be easy to take care of, it couldn't possibly have a style to it which means
wash it let it dry or blow dry and a pony tail! How else would it stay out of food etc. In my opinion the longer the hair the easier to manage!

It is hard to maintain. Especially if it is really thick. Keeping it in braids of some sort, or keeping it up most of the time helps a whole lot, & sleeping with it braided also is a really good thing. That way when you wanna go somewhere nice, it looks really nice, & not scraggly. I also use Fructis Garnier hair care. That is really nice!

Yes and Yes. I used to have very long hair in my mid 20's. I had regular trips to the salon to get it trimmed, colored and styled. Regular meaning every 6 - 8 weeks. I had my long hair layered to give it body and movement. I would suggest long hair to those who are young and single and have no kids, yet, because it takes time in the mornings to get it washed, conditioned, dried, and styled. If you have a brother, boyfriend, or husband that lives with you then be prepared to hear them complain loudly over the clogged shower drains they have to fix!!

No matter how thick or how thin your hair is if it is long you will always have trouble. In winter time it takes to long to dry and you dont want to go out in the cold with wet hair. So if you have long hair and its winter you have to get in the shower with plenty of time to dry it before you go out. If you have thick long hair you have to worry about really bad head aches. I have hair past my but and i have really thick hair and i couldnt get rid of the headaches so i just cut my hair.

At first no but after the first few days you wish you can redo it all over but sometimes cutting it is a great change especially for a new year or a new you .. besides if you take care of it .. It will grow back but if you do cut it cut it at least to the middle of your back nothing major.

Well, I used to have long hair but it was such a bother I cut it! All, that brushing and all the products you have to use to keep it from looking like a rats nest. It was a nightmare!
