I have a boyfriend but I keep thinking about this guy I use to see. When I was seeing him he wasn't ready for a relationship, so we were just friends. Now it seems like he might be ready for a relationship and even though I am dating someone else now I really like him and miss him. My boyfriend is in another state and the long distance thing is tough. My friend is 5 minutes away which is probably why it's so appealing. I don't know what to do. I want them both but I know I can't have that. I also don't know how the friend would feel about having a relationship. We still talk but he knows I have a boyfriend so I can't see him. He seems sad when we talk and like he wants to see me, but I'm not sure if he wants a relationship or is just looking for a booty call. I'm so confused.

It is always tough to have conflicting interest and feelings especially when it involves relationships. Your friend is close by and it does seem more appealing than a long-distance relationship and it is another incentive to be with him instead. You must be true to your own feelings. You can not continue a relationship harboring feelings for someone else. It would not be fair to your boyfriend nor to yourself. If this continues, you will only decieve your boyfriend into believing that your heart is beating solely for him. How would you feel if your boyfriend has strong feelings for someone else and does not know if he truly wants to be with you?

I don't believe that I can advise you to choose; however, I do think that you need to either 1) cut all ties with your friend because he is stirring up old emotions and is interferring with your feelings for your boyfriend 2) break off your relationship with your boyfriend and rekindle a relationship with your friend. Unfortunately, you can not have both. It's causing too much of a problem. No one knows what your friend's intents are, perhaps you should talk to him.

Follow what your heart speaks out. If you'd ask me, I've followed my heart in every decision in my life and everything ended up good enough.

Be straight up honest with him. Ask him if he is interested in a girlfriend, or just a hook up. If he is interested in a girlfriend then you should give it a shot.
