Have you noticed that Starbucks has been building its stores right across the street from coffeeshops that are independantly owned?

They do it intentionally to put the small guys out of business... especially when the community is glad to support the little shop that already exists there.
Why can't they leave well enough alone?

That is Starbucks' single strategy. Ever notice they do not advertise, with the exception of a couple of recent radio ads? No TV, no billboards, nothing. They are famous for their technique - move in, take over, shut the other guys down, then close half their shops once they have a hold on the market. It isn't just your imagination. The Harvard Business school has a case on this.

The only thing we can do is support the local guys.

That being said, I don't usually like local places, as their prices are higher, the coffee more bitter and the drinks are inconsistent - no one makes them the same or even charges the same sometimes. Consistency is one reason Starbucks is so popular.

Yes, it's called corporate bullying. And yes, they want to put the small guys out of business with their expensive and underrated coffee. If you do own a business that does sell coffee, put a BIG sign outside your premises that says:- "This is a Starbucks free zone - we only sell friendly coffee here"

Grow up. Ur just saying that cause u hate Starbucks. It might have been the only place they could build it. And y do it on purpose if the community's supporting the other store? Theyll lose business!

If theres any Sign of competition, starbucks must crush it, because it is taking their potential customers. The more customers you have the more coffee you sell, the more coffee you sell, the more money you make.

if you really feel strongly about it, start a demonstration.
