He gets pain in the stomach on and off. It is very severe pains as well (screaming and crying). It started with diarrhea and gas which has the worst, most distinct smell I've ever smelt. We just found blood in his feces. It has been going on for about 3 days now getting worst every day.
Any ideas on what it could be and if we should take him to the ER tonight?

One thing i forgot to add.. We don't have health insurance and are pretty much broke. If we go to the ER it would have to be an almost near death situation.

With all these new infectious diseases going around.
The best thing you could do is take him to the ER.
You can always make out a payment plan.Find a
public ER if at all possible , they charge the least

that's so sad this has happened to your brother :( no one should be exposed to this sort of abuse, but unfortunately it isn't uncommon. your brother is not alone in this, and it may help him to deal with the situation better if he's more aware of the fact that many other people have gone through the same thing. it's terrible that your mum doesn't have a better strategy for helping him over come these issues and the approach she's taken isn't going to help him at all. sure, we all need to 'toughen up' sometimes, but i don't think this is what your brother needs to hear from her right now :S i'm sure there is a counsellor or guidance officer at the school, perhaps you could arrange an appointment for your brother to talk to them outside of school hours. also, try googling other people's stories of bullying, bullying prevention, etc. he might find helpful advice on how to cope and avoid it :) best of luck x

My niece had the same symptoms, severe vomiting, cramping, diahrea, almost unbareble stomach pains, from what i was told it is very infectious, take him to the ER as asoon as possible. Make sure you wash your hands for 2 minutes atleast, also wash any bedding an clothes he has used ( use a bit of bleach even with colors )

can be many causes of this such as virus, infection, even alcohol abuse. It's not going to get better without medical help. The smell is probably blood. Go to ER. If it turns out to be managable they'll send him home with a prescription. But he probably needs hospitalization.

GIve him lots of fluids...like water ..not sodas...sodas makes it worse...
it could be the flu since it's been 3 days... you can either take him to a 24 hr pharmacy and ask the pharmacist or ER they would give him someting to make him strong so maybe you should...
but if he doesnt have a fever i think he willbe fine.... jus don't give him anyting strong to eat..
wish your lil bro the best!

You need to take him to the E.R. This could be E. Coli or a serious bacterial infection. Whenever a person has blood in his or her feces, it is potentially life-threatening.

Doesn't sound good - take him now. It could be something really nastey and life-threatening - and if it's not, well, at least you erred on the side of caution. I will pray for him
