If it's the fish, it's pronounced bass with a soft 'a', but if it's the musical word, it's pronounced base with a hard 'a'.

Bass (electric bass guitar) - pronounced like "base" with a long "a".
Bass (the fish) - pronounced with a soft "a" like "mass".

It depends. It's pronounced "bass" when refering to a bass (a type of fish) and it's pronounced "base" when refering to a bass guitar.

it depends on what your talking about.
if you talking about "bass" like the deep sound of a subwoofer it is pronounced base. If you talking about the fish it is pronounced bass.

Base is something used in softball and baseball, but that is how I pronunce base as in "base guitar". But then again, us Philadelphians have an awful accent.
