Bit of an odd situation to be in, but if you are saying the guy is a good guy and they are happy together, whats the issue? so i will go with a YES attaching a little odd but nothing major sticker on it.

Funnily enough - when I was 19 I was going out with a 43 year old.

It didn't last - the age group proved to be too big and my "immaturity" (actually normal 19 year old behaviour) started to get on his nerves.

Unfortunately, since they are both adults, there is no Yes or No answer - it entirely depends on the characters of the people involved. But, to be honest, if it were my daughter I would be somewhat concerned.

At least you know something about the guy, which is more than most parents in this situation do.

Well first of all I really dont think this relationship will last to long. YOur daughter is too young to settle down although some do but your daughter may change her mind later on down the line. She may feel trapped and feel like shes missing out on all the fun that most girls her age are having. She may even resent her boyfriend. I dont think her boyfriend will hurt her. He is mature and knows what he wants in life. Question is, is your daughter really ready?

leave her be she is 19 adult in law, If you raised her to know right from wrong you should have no problems like you said you have known this guy over 20 years bit weird as she is only 19 but let her find out herself she old enough! Just be there for her when she needs you if she needs you Well thats my plan for when my daugher starts dating not for a long time yet

age is just a number, the fact you know he won`t hurt her is a good thing, and would help put your mind at ease because you know him, but i would never let my daughter date an older guy regardless! what about when she wants to go out and he wants to sit in front of the fire with his pipe and slippers! your daughter would be throwing her life away as she will have to look after him when he starts getting poorly, when she should be in her prime life going out having fun getting a career not sat in doors looking after someone old enough to be her dad. age is just a number but at least let it be a realistic age gap of a few years not a few decades. i wouldn`t allow it personally

I hope your forbid you daughter from seeing this man until she was at least 18. I would say no, it's not right. It makes me wonder why a 43 year old man cant find a woman closer to his own age. Seriously, he's like borderline child molester.

How immature is this 43 year old guy, that he would have anything in common (other than sex) with a 19 year old?

And do you really want your daughter dating someone who is that immature?

whether it is right or not is up to your daughter to decide. the most you can and should do is tell her the pros and cons about such a relationship. Whatever choice she makes will be a learning experience for her, and if you try to force her to make a choice she doesn't want to, i don't think she'll really appreciate it.

I have a 21 year old daughter and a 18 year old daughter. If either of them were seeing a man that is my age.... I would literally die! I can't believe you allow this. What are you thinking? I know she is 19 but you need to talk to her and let her know that she has a life and she should live it... .
