I respect everyone unless they give me reason to not respect them.

Now, respecting a persons decisions and what they do is completely different from supporting this joke going on in Iraq.

And ditto to what the dude above me said.

But every male in my family has been in the military. 'Nuff said.

P.S. If you wanted to know who supported the war in Iraq, you should have just asked that, f*cktard. Not done it in this p*ssified way. And NONE of the men in my family support this war... including the one who is STILL IN THE CIA AND who was injured in Nam.

I respect them more than anything and anyone that doesnt respect them should be ashamed. My own father faught in the war for a year and half, left a 3, 10, and 6 month old to fight a war that he might not even have believed in. My uncle also left kids and a pregnant wife. my best friend ellie has a brother shipping out before even getting a high school diploma along with 13 of his friend (which just is basically screwing them becasue when they come back they have nothing) these people leave families and some dont ever return home. anyone to not respect men and woman like that should be ashamed b/c they sure as hell dont have the courage to be out there fighting like the people they are saying stuff about.

Keep up the good work there are still some people in this country that believe in you and the work that has to be done. Thank God that we have a President that won't back down. I respect all my Soldiers. They voluntered to give thier time to the betteremtn of our great nation. I don't care if they cam in for college money, if they had no where to go but jail, or if they came in to serve thier country. They voluntered and they have my respect. I value thier beliefs; political, social and personal. I try my best to help them understand that they don't have to agree with the decisions of the government but they still have a responsibility to the Nation and the people to protect democracy for the good of the world and for the good of the people that can not fight for themselves. Democracy and the military is not just for the Republicans or conservatives. Liberals and Democrats beleive in the Nation as well.

how can you have anything but the upmost respect for someone who is willing to protect and die for your freedooms these kids have more balls than the average guy. they deserve notohing but respect for the sacrifices they make for thier country and deserve all the support they can get. you dont have to agree with your govt to support these kids but respect the kids for doing what thier countries ask of them. it upsets me when people badmouth the military they are doing a thankless job just like cops and firemen. governments might not always be right and wars may be wrong or for the wrong reasons vietnam was a wrong war in many ways but the men and women who served in the military didnt deserve the imense disrespect that they got. these kids see things that would make a lot of us lose our minds and a lot of our veterans have suffered physically and mentally from what they have been exposed to whether it was wrong or right isnt thier decision they are there to protect you no matter where u are. my son is considering entering into the military and following in his grandfathers footsteps protecting our country. his grandfather survived ww2, korea, and vietnam and recieved 3 purple hearts for his sacrifices yet the govt does little for these people and cuts thier veterans benifits and tries to get out of being responsible for the hardships incurred by our men and women in the military and knowing this people join the military. His grandfather was a hero yet when he came home people spat on him because they didnt agree with the war he was fighting in and those people in my eyes should be shot for treason. they did a job that thier govt asked them to do even though they had families at home that didnt want them to go kuddos to every soldier who has lived through or died in war for they have one of the most demanding jobs on this planet and deserve nothing but the upmost respect from the citizens they protect even if they dont agree with the decisions made by thier govts. may god and the govt protect our men and women in teh military and do everything possible to make sure they get the best of everything they deserve it

Of course. They are not the people making decisions about what is going on in this country. They are the individuals that are trained to carry out the orders they are given. And they are exceptional at it.
Even with the stress and hardships they endure they keep me feeling safe.
I am proud to be a veteran.

Unequivocally.

And for the people saying, "only those who do this...or don't do that"....remember that the members of America's Armed Forces are still human. There are some who are going have flaws, make mistakes, or just generally be bad people. Putting on a uniform is a huge service to this country, but it does not make one perfect.

Of Course!!!!!

They put their lives on hold, and often on the line... for you and I to sit here and talk about wether or not we respect them!

They do not have a say in where they are sent/ why they are sent there... so the lack of respect on my end is toward the leadership of this country!

Signed,
A proud Military Wife

I have high regards for the military and our soldiers. I do not agree with one post here about how students get money for college and then become soldiers and decide they dont like war. We all have choices including our soldiers. They must fight it is their job but they do not have to like it. Do you like to kill? Do you like to work 24/7 every day with no break in sight? Do you like getting low wages while working long hours under stress? Do you like being away from your wife or husband for 1 to 1 1/2 years, could you handle that? Could you handle extreme stress and watching your friends and co workers die?
Give the soldiers all the money they want, they deserve it, push them to get an education, and let them be a part of decisions. Every soldier who stays in the military and makes it their career will eventually be a leader who makes decisions for other men. They get more power and more decisions. Wouldnt you want them able to make the right decisions like going to war? They should all have a say in it.
I am proud of my soldier and yes, he is an officer and he got $$$ to go to school. I am proud that he got a bronze star honor for his work in Iraq. How many lives did he save?

100%.
But like the first man said I want them home. Afghanistan is the war we should be concentrating on. We have no business being in Iraq. Nonetheless, our military is doing what they are told and they deserve our respect, admiration and prayers
