It depends on what kind of books you are reading instead of praying. Non-fiction, educational books maybe? The search for knowledge pleases God. Look for answers and question everything. And then pray for the ability to do so.

Well what good is reading a book, listening to some music, or watching some movie going to do anybody on the Judgement Day?
None at all.
Of course prayer is more important.

I think prayer in more important than these things, but cannot replace them. I read a lot and I listen to music (classical/psaltic). I can dispense with watching movies fairly easily, but some films are very good.

Special prayers of Islam which is called Salah is more important as you meet the God and Listen or read His Last and the Final well prtected book. You come very close to the God. Of course you can read books etc after wards. Such alive paryers (Salah) make you very strong person and has numeorus benefits for the society etc. It cleans your mind, stops you from evils of all kinds

Prayer is a direct link to God. Reading books educate and equip us to execute the things we learn or receive through prayer. Listening to some music has a positive message. It can also be used as praise and worship to God. It can also send a negative message. TV can be used for entertainment or education. It too can be a negative influence. Therefore, as in all things, we should evaluate what we allow ourselves to be exposed to. I think prayer would be our/my best choice.

Prayer is more important. Thou it does not mean you can not read, watch movies and listen to music. Believe it or not serving God can still be fun.

it is a frustrating question. i admire analyzing books, music is a factor of my on a daily basis existence, television no longer lots. So between analyzing a e book and listening to music, i'm going to decide for...... analyzing a e book! How approximately you?

in some ways yes,
but Ive realized I was but on this earth to do more than just pray all day.
Ever heard " pray like it all depends on GOD, then work like it all depends on you"
Its a great way to say, stay grounded it both. There's a place for religion and a place for reality.
