When I was in school (I'd guess the same time as your parents) it was a bit easier the classes were not as hard. BUT....I've noticed the teachers give you all way too many chances to do you work. When my work was due it was due, if you didn't have it you got a F. My kids, if they miss an assignment the teacher says bring it when you have it ready and I'll grade it. So that is the nice thing about teachers today. My kids have way too many projects they need to do you are right about that. It seems the kids with the most money and the most creative parents get the best grade.

I see my nieces and nephews (epecially my one niece) and with all the tests and with that No Child Left Behind teachers have to make sure test scores are high.
My niece's classes are insane in the beginning because a year's cirriculam is condensed into 4 months so the 2nd semester can be spent preparing for the state tests.
Sadly a lot of schools worry more about test scores than your education.

i know! i hate it i have a 5 paragraph essay due monday about our future career i keep writing the essay over and over and can only come up with 2 paragraphs. i don't know why she expects 5! i also have a project due next week we have to read this chapter book write down every character for each chapter, pick out 15 vocab words, write a personal response, a summary and a illistration. the project must be 55 pages long :( in 5th grade i had to memorize the whole periodic table, my mom said she had to do that in high school, & when i was in 6th i was doing math my mom also did in high school..

You will be happy later on in life when you have a successful career. Most of those kids who have it too easy in high school will lose out on getting a quality education and probably end up with less fulfilling jobs--consider yourself lucky. The thing you need to do is develop a better attitude towards school; learn to like it and it will not seem nearly so hard.

i feel ya bro. im finally in college now and still struggling with the difficulties of school. i thought high school was hard! wait till college!!! my ENG102 professor grades our essays and responses as if we were English professors ourselves! it is ridiculous. i mean, she has us rewrite an essay like 4 times and complains that it doesn't improve enough. that is because i know only so much and cannot be expected to write like her! ahhhh, sorry bout that but it felt good to vent for a while. :)

Well think about it this way. It's all about competition. The one who has the best grades in the toughest subjects will of course be more applicable for a job man. Think about the future population and how many people will be looking for jobs.

I think you can blame the education system,, not alot of good teachers out there,,,, they give you tons of work, so they won't have to do in the class rooms,,, they rather have your parents help you, than them take the time.

I think the curriculum has stayed the same, the kids are just a lot stupider than they used to be.
