Xmas trree!! Yes with a 2 year old... get her a small tree of her own to decorate on her own the way she sees fit!!!!! its all hers
bring it out every year
Make sure you take video or pics of it oncee its done every year to compare
We did this with our daughter because she was goig to trash the reg tree at age 2... so we gave her the small one/// and every year she wanted it and she is now 12.
This year however she will be sending it to a troop in Iraq. She decided she was goig to do a christmas box with a tree lights and some decorations and send t hem off to a bunch of guys who will be in Iraq at Xmas... land of NO trees!
SHe is calling it the travein tree and is asking that they give it to another troop for next years xmas and so on ... with our email in the box we hope to hear from soldiers at xmas as long as they are there and she tells them in her letter that if they email before each xmas we will send new lights or whatever they need for the tree!
We also bake cookies .. when she was young.. but since she will want to eat the dough for the ones she will help with buyy the pillsbusry tube dough ( uses Pastuerized eggs so no salmonella), or you can use eggs like egg beaters that are pastuerized in place of reg eggs in your own recipes ,, again pastuerized so no salmonella if she eats any dough.
We also have a trradition handed down from my childhood
Since we open presents on xmas Day not eve... we let our daughter open 1 present on xmas eve.. that we pick...
Of course its always new jammies all washed soft with Downy and a new soft robe and slippers... she opens her present, has her snack puts out food for Santa and off to bed in her new jammies... she is 12 and every year she still waits for the downy soft jammies... one year we asked did she want to open something else and she said NO its tradition!
Too bad too cause dad and I wnted her to open the new computer so we could play!!!!!!!!!!! but we had to wait til morning! :0)
We also sing xmas carols,... go to a xmas parade and xmas school concert
Hope that helps

This year we are starting a new tradition. My younger brother will be home for the first time in 7 years. we have planned to go sledding and then have some hot chocolate at home while watching movies. but past traditions that my kids enjoy the most are decorating our home. One year I didn't have any $ for extras, and we weere adopted by a local hospital. My kids made the decorations from paper and hung them everywhere. We still do that. And that was the best christmas I ever had. It made me value what I did have and do have more.

Haloween you take those small raisin boxes and empty the raisins out and when the gets say trick or treat ask them to choose trick or treat. If they choose trick give them a raisin box with a dollar in it or whatever you can afford. Maybe give them a hint it is a trick. Less kids will ask for a trick in most cases and their friends are like "awe man" after seeing that they didn't pick trick versus treat.
Chrstmas a typical cookies and milk left on the eve of christmas for santa(dad).
Thanksgiving I can't remember but in grade school we had some great craft projects we could apply at home for children. Also implement some history and it makes it very fun and interesting.

~At christmas my family always left milk and cookies for santa and a carrot or two for the reindeer. I'm definitely going to start the tradition with my daughter this year since she's old enough to participate. We also usually made dog biscuits for all the canine family members as christmas presents.
~ Our only thanksgiving tradition is watching the Macy's parade on TV.

At the Thanksgiving Dinner, we have to stand up and tell what we are thankful for. At the Christmas Tree, The youngest person hands out all the presents under the tree. Then we play two games: We take turns naming occupations that work at Midnight on Christmas. When its your turn if you can't think of an answer you sit down, the last person standing wins. Then we play the same game naming candy bars. On Halloween, We eat Pizza and get drunk together. Edit: (I have over 250 relatives here in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. So sometimes we rent the VFW auditorium for Halloween.) Edit: I forgot New Year's Eve: On that night we hunker down, and stay off the roads. My mom used to say we all go to our own little teepees.

Every year, my kids and I make a new decoration for our christmas tree. My middle child hangs them all in order on our tree. We've been doing this for a while and my oldest can't believe how many "great" christmas' we've had. They also remember, through these ornaments, what we did for christmas that specific year, where we went, what we did, etc. It's just a way for them to remember our time together when I am no longer here to spend it with them.

Maybe you could make a new ornament together for the Christmas tree every year. She will enjoy looking at them as she gets older and she'll remember the times you spent making them.
Anything hand made, in my opinion, is much more fun and memorable than store-bought items.

My dad's ex did this and I'm thinking about starting to do it with my kids for the first time this year. She and her kids baked cookies everyday starting december 1st and stopped on the 24th. Sounds like something fun to do.
