A technically perfect photograph can be the world’s most boring picture.
-Andreas Feininger
Anything more than 500 yds from the car just isn't photogenic.
-Brett Weston
I took to photography like a duck to water. I never wanted to do anything else. Excitement about the subject is the voltage which pushes me over the mountain of drudgery necessary to produce the final photograph. -Berenice Abbott, "The Berenice Abbott Protfolio," Preface, 1976.
Let us first say what photography is not. A photograph is not a painting, a poem, a symphony, a dance. It is not just a pretty picture, not an exercise in contortionist techniques and sheer print quality. It is or should be a significant document, a penetrating statement, which can be described in a very simple term - selectivity. -Berenice Abbott, in "Infinity" magazine, 1951.
Photography can never grow up if it imitates some other medium. It has to walk alone; it has to be itself. -Berenice Abbott, in "Infinity" magazine, 1951.
Does not the very word 'creative' mean to build, to initiate, to give out, to act - rather than to be acted upon, to be subjective? Living photography is positive in its approach, it sings a song of life - not death. -Berenice Abbott
I haven’t seen too many images that have impressed me! -Berenice Abbott, "Professional photographer's survival guide" by Charles E. Rotkin, ISBN: 0817454098 , page: 242

We try to grab pieces of our lives as they speed past us. Photographs freeze those pieces and help us remember how we were. We don't know these lost people but if you look around, you'll find someone just like them.

I like these quotes personally.
If you're photographing in color you show the color of their clothes - if you use black and white, you will show the color of their soul. ~Author Unknown
Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure. ~Tony Benn
I hate cameras. They are so much more sure than I am about everything. ~John Steinbeck

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
