I am an American Convert to Islam. I think the best way to answer that question is because right now Islam is a "hot" topic and is getting a lot of bad press. They are offended not so much by concerns of their religion, but by misinformation being circulated and how this stereotypes Muslims as a whole. I think maybe that is your concern in asking this question. However, the ambiguity of your question could lead one to answer it another way. From the inside. Islam is firmly rooted in a historical place. There are currently many Muslims who feel the need for "progress" or more appropriately, change. There are many "progressive Muslims" who are urging all Muslims to take a long look at themselves, because any effective and positive change will have to come from within. If you are serious about exploring this topic I recommend that you read the Book: The Search for Beauty in Islam by Dr. Khaled Abou el Fadl

Well, everything concerns their religion. . . or almost everything. When they do well on some life test, they give Allah all the credit. When there is death and destruction to loved ones, they talk about how the infidels are to blame but Allah seems to have become an innocent bystander. They get offended like anyone who is miserable with their earthly life and has everything riding on heaven. They even get to have 72 virgins--sex in heaven---because they sure don't have fun here. All except for my wonderful wife, who no longer practices this religion

They really do get offended more easily than most other religious groups. They tend to think that only they are right and better than everyone else. Like their **** smells like roses and that IS NOT FUNNY! It's sad I know. Cartoons and jokes about Jebus are made everyday, I never see ppl make a big deal over those. Some people are just hypocritical numbnuts, such is life.

They give Ali respect and hold sacred the truths in which they base their beliefs. I'm not a Muslim, but I've encountered many. Those I've encountered are good upstanding people. I wish we as Christians had more respect and reverence for Christ and what we believe. I think if we did, we wouldn't have so much time to concern ourselves with the ideals and beliefs of others.

we tend to get offensive when things concern our religion because 98% of the time things asked or comments made regarding our religion is in a rude, mocking, disrespectful manner.
I don't think it is only Muslims who will take offense to things like this, I'm quite sure a Christian or Jew would get just as offended if half the remarks and stupid questions were aimed at their faith.

My cousins are muslims and they're about as normal as you can get. But honestly anyone can be easily offended when it comes to their personal beliefs, right?

Being indignant is a decision they make. The morals they have been taught require that they be indignant via something and each little thing that doesn't conform to their narrow viewpoints...that and their over-inflated sense of shallowness. maximum folk take themselves far too heavily and can hardly or honestly ever snigger at themselves. maximum folk have self assurance that what they think of, do and have self assurance actual concerns...by way of fact of this they get indignant...does not rely what faith or theory shape they carry.

Maybe the Extremists are corrupt but why do they anger towards God and religion. What has religion ever done to them. Why be so unfaithful. What are they trying to prove? Religion is not something you play with it. Religion should be taken seriously, regardless what religion you are. All religion teaches good things.

Most religinonistas do.

You have the right to practice your religion freely, but not the right to not be offended.

I should be respectful of your opinon that there is a god only to the extent that I respet your opinion that your wife is beautiful and your children all smart.
