It's not a zit. It's an internal lump in my earlobe that is not squishy, and is fairly small. It doesn't really hurt. I just want to know what the heck it is?!?

They are called cysts. If it does not hurt, I would not worry about it. Most cysts are just tissue that have built up. I have had several that have gone away over time (years) on their own. Others have never gone away but don't bother me. A doctor can remove if it becomes too big or is a problem. I tend to pick at mine and make them worse.

It is possible that it could be a cyst. People commonly get cysts on their earlobes that present in the way of small bumps and sometimes come to a white head. Do not mash on it or you could bust it and cause a greater inflammatory action. They usually resolve themselves in 2 weeks or so, however if it becomes unbearably painful, or grows rapidly in size without being touched, it would not be a bad idea to go see a doctor. Good luck to you.

There are all sorts of cysts that people can get in their skin, painful or not, harmful or not, even cancer. If it's not painful, I'd recommend ask your doctor at your next yearly checkup. If it is painful or the size or appearance have been changing, make an appointment to see your doctor. He or she may send you to a dermatologist, since they specialize in skin issues.

If it is internal it is probably cartilage(which is what your ear is made out of). Sometimes you get a little extra cartilage. I have a bump outside of my ear on the backside that is cartilage. As long as it isn't noticable then there is no problem with it. Next time you visit the doctor have the dr take a look at it to make sure it isn't anything else.

It may be an infection, or just a pimple that keeps coming back. Talk to someone there about it and get someone to look at it. If it continues, and if others think it is a problem, get it checked.
