I had a depression spell that I needed some aid and I took the Following every day and had very good results. I think I over did it as some items increased seratonin and some were expelling it in the brain but I was fine.

Sam-E 400mgs a day (take b-12 with this)
St. John's Wart 2 in the morning
5-HTP

I was amazed with these over the counter products. They worked very fast (within hours).

I think they worked as good if not better than any perscription I tried including zoloft and prozac.

Zoloft has terrible side effects including dead sex drive and diarrhea. I asked a doctor about the diarrhea and she stated many many people have this problem. I am not sure why nor was she. I also experienced low body tempature with zoloft. I think this could be something with to much seratonin.

Best of luck and I hope you try the products I mentioned as many people pass homepathic stuff off. I agree I have tried many homeopathic remedies but these did help me in my worst times.

ALSO! Vallerian root is good for stress. I increase the recomended amount. I believe it has a relative structure to volume.

no pill can make you happy. try exercising, cutting back on caffeine, alcohol and sugar, and making yourself of service to others. if you are truly depressed, not just "having a bad day", then contact your county MHMR and see a doctor who would possibly prescribe an antidepressant to you. there is a big difference between feeling blue and being truly depressed. "Feeling blue" will lift within a day or two- true depression is seeing everything in shades of gray for long periods of time, with no hopeful feelings- it's like letting the air out of a balloon

Have you tried talking to someone? There was a time I felt depressed, I felt helpless. I wanted so bad to get out of it. I talked to my doctor about it and realized it was a combination of things going on in my life that was making me unhappy. I wasn't eating right, I was unsatisfied with my job and lack of friends in the area. Try figuring out what's making you feel down first before you resort to taking pills. Pills aren't the solution to your depression.

Hi. Pills don't make you happy. They can make you think you're happy though. If that's a deep enough answer for you then I'd suggest Celexa!!! :D HEHEHE Otherwise I'd say grow up and deal with your problems head on and get over them, learn to meditate on the present, and never give up hope because when it comes down to it that's all you have.

No pill is going to make you happy.

Those pills make you sleepy, and you barely give a crap about anything.

They make you fat but it doesn't matter to you, you don't feel happy, but you don't feel sad, you don't get surprised about anything etc. As soon as you start to see the reality they ask you to take more to forget.

If that's what you want, go to a psychiatrist

Depends - if you're truly depressed (clinically) you should see a psychiatrist that understands the kinetics of the medicines. It may take a while to find the right combo.

If you're just down, find new interests - keeping busy is the best cure for the blues.

No pill will make the world a better place, nor you a happier person.

A SSUI (pill) can make it easier, and give you an opportunity to develope skills to take on the depression. Ultimatley, you will need to stop taking the pill (a crutch) and move on, on your own, to experiece the world.

Combination of antidepressants, prayer, exercise and counselling and going out with friends works best. Here is a couple of popular drugs

lexapro

effexor

Good luck. "Amir82" is right. Be careful. Pills will make you fat and distract you. You have to exercise and set goals if you are on them. The are useful for short-term in my experience.
