Ok, I'm a really athletic guy and I don't know what to do with my hair anymore. It's really dark, really really thick, like unbelievably thick and it's always dry and frizzy, no matter what kind of conditioner I use. It's about 2-3 inches long and I usually sort of spike it, but it's so thick that it doesen't stand straight and always looks like a big mess. And yes, I've tried having it thinned out by the hairdresser and it's still too thick. Plus I always have to wash it and make sure it's wet before putting in any gel or sculpting cream, or else it wont hold.
I'm about 6'3'', I weigh 195pds and I'm athletic, I run 10k every day.
Any ladies have advice?

The athletic part has to do with the fact that I don't want my hair to be too long.

Cornrows if you wanna keep it longer....they stay in for a long time, and your hair is totally out of your way...OR you could cut it reall short and not have a prob...try a 1 on the sides and a 2 or 3 on top...that's pretty short, but it'll still look like you have hair, and since it is so thick you can get away with cutting it short, your clipper #1 prolly looks like some peoples #2 or #3..

I can relate in that my hair is really thick and wavy and a pain. Plus thinning shears just do not work on my kind of hair. I'm a girl though and growing it long seems to help weigh down the frizzy wavy mess so that it looks pretty good. Being athletic like you are and being a man, I think you should just keep it very short. Keep the top a bit longer and the sides and back shorter.

Try getting a mild relaxer and I mean mild... such as Redken vertical....even though you may not have curl to your hair . It can actually help tame dry, thick and frizzy hair.. plus your stylist can apply it in a way that it will automatically spike up.... plus of course you still will need some gel or paste, try redken for men.. its awesome...

Try it really short. Like 1 to 11/2 inches. It will spike better and look thinner as well or go ahead and go for a buzz.

dude, use Paul Mitchells Super Skinny Products and it will totally get rid of your frizzy prob and it will also help with the dryness. also, instead of spiking it, try to use Paul Mitchell pomade or Sebastein pomade and spread it evenly through your hair. then just comb it and let it split on the side with some of it covering your forehead. this will give a sleek more modern/metro look without looking gayish... email me if you need any more help...have gone through the same prob...

I know you've gone in and gotten your hair thinned, but have you ever made an appointment just for a hair consoltation? You can make an appointment with your stylist and have them show you different ways to style your hair based on its length, thickness, etc.
They can probablly also refer you to some styling products that will help you with your hairs issues.
Hope this helps. :D

I used to have that problem. Get a blow dryer and use it for 1-2 minutes after putting gel in your hair and it'll stay straight.

You sound cute. Ok, I am not sure what products u are using. But you do need a trim,... every other day. I would have you get bed head. I cant speak enough about that hairline. They have a good gel you need. Grab it but trim ur hair first.

you can always just grow it out and flat iron in and stuff. but i say keep it shaggy looking, wet your hair and then put some gel in it, and just make it messy looking. what does the whole stressing of being athletic have to do with a hair question? well, anywho, keep it shaggy but stylish.

nucleic A molding paste...it takes very little and works great..just a dab in your hand rub hands together add a litlle water and rub through hair shape as desired...doesn't dry hair like gels or mouse...try it and let me know what u think..not cheap but a little goes a long way
