We coped we made a list of all the concerns every morning we then had an agreement on what could be afforded and stored and where and how, about the days food and medicine and regarding the pets and plants and chores laundry and yard.
Then we made a priory list.
Then we shared the chores all of them and when we went out i volunteered to do all the checking and promised to check all windows and door locks this way it only had to be dpne onnce and no worry while out.
I did not try to be logical I just said ok give me a list and ill do it
Took 4 hrs a day to do the lists and keep a record. Every bite of food was recorded also every piece of mail and every phone call
Several journals were kept.
I did nt have a problem with any of this. I did whatever out of Love and concern

Yes, it is possible to have both, but not necessarily. You are not a leper or a defective person, and definitely not crazy! We all have issues/problems we wish we did not have. They are simply different issues for different people. It is a chemical imbalance that can be treated with the proper medication. There are many people that go see a psychiatrist for different reasons. There is nothing wrong with going to see a psychiatrist - in fact, more people than you think go see them. The stigma regarding mental health is changing. Many times I hear that if someone brings up going to a psychiatrist, or mention they are on an antidepressant or other medication, more often than not, the person/people they tell are very supportive, and some will admit to taking a medication themselves! Keep in mind that this is just one small aspect of you as a person. Honestly, if someone is going to judge you based on the fact that you have this condition, then they are not worth being around. Or they may not know enough about the disorder, in which this case this would be an opportunity to educate them. This is the first step toward dispelling any stereotypes, by the way. Consider going to a psychiatrist. It is no different than going to a cardiologist for a heart condition, seriously. The quality of your life and relationships will be affected if the symptoms are enough to interfere with your daily functioning. Hope this helps and good luck!

Get him to a doctor. If he doesn't want to go and it's ruining your marriage, then maybe you should give him an ultimatum: get help or you're leaving.
Ultimatums are usually bad, but in this case it's probably necessary. You shouldn't have to deal with someone's problem if they're perfectly capable of dealing with it themselves. And plenty of OCD sufferers have gotten help, so your husband isn't helpless.

Shame on everyone that said to leave him.....
That is so wrong!!
Didn't he have this before you married him?
There are all kinds of medication that can help him and he probably could use come counseling to help him find different outlets for his stress. It is a fixable problem.
Don't run away from it if you truly love him.

You have my sympathy. If he won't go for help I don't know what you can do. Maybe you could talk to a therapist yourself to get tips on dealing with this.
