Proof that the Bible is accurate or proof that Jesus is the son of God? I don't think anyone has proof that God spoke to man besides eye-witness accounts, which are the least reliable form of evidence.

When you ask someone a question, the person naturally wants to agree with you. There are many cases where people imagine things. "Oh, yeah...he was acting strange come to think of it." Study psychology.

Gospel According to Saint Luke
Chapter 8

5 The sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.

6 And other some fell upon a rock: and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 7 And other some fell among thorns, and the thorns growing up with it, choked it. 8 And other some fell upon good ground; and being sprung up, yielded fruit a hundredfold. Saying these things, he cried out: He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him what this parable might be. 10 To whom he said: To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to the rest in parables, that seeing they may not see, and hearing may not understand.

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 And they by the way side are they that hear; then the devil cometh, and taketh the word out of their heart, lest believing they should be saved. 13 Now they upon the rock, are they who when they hear, receive the word with joy: and these have no roots; for they believe for a while, and in time of temptation, they fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns, are they who have heard, and going their way, are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit. 15 But that on the good ground, are they who in a good and perfect heart, hearing the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit in patience.

Generally, they're referring to information that is second or third hand from a book written by some self-professed theologian expert who skimmed through archeological reports, picking and chosing what he wanted to support his view. Even though some of these claims have been proven to be frauds, people will still believe them and refer to them because they read the fraud's work (which is Christian) and not work of the authentic experts who contradict his claims ('cause they must be anti-christian).

The other is someone in their church will come back with stories and photos of the biblical places in the 'Holy Land' where they had paid guides who showed them around to these sites and told them this is where such and such happened in the bible. Of course, you also can get a paid guide in New Zealand to show you were the hobbits lived, and I don't mean Elijah Wood.

The proof of the Bible I think is that it has been in existance since the days of Bible times. There have been numerous attempt ot wipe it out and it's never happened nor will it. Anytime people have tried to wipe out Christianity it's come back stronger. I am living, walking, breathing proof of a loving, merciful God. If you ever experiance Him you will understand. And it's in the Bible that God has in everybody the knowledge of Him.

There is no objective proof. All the "evidence" is subjective.

All the empirical facts point to one conclusion: there is no god, and the bible is a collection of re-told babylonian myths.

And actually, historical facts DISPROVE the bible. The census that supposedly happened during jesus' birth was not untill 6 A.D., there was no call to go to Bethlehem etc.

Well, there is proof that many of the events stated in the Bible (possibly omitting the old testament) actually occurred. Whether or not you believe that it proves Jesus was the son of God is debatable.

I'm sry, but when did eye-witness accounts become the LEAST reliable?!?! First-hand knowledge and viewing is THE most accurate proof there is because it has no chance to be diluted by second and third-hand recipients!

Why do you think testimonies are so important in court and hearsay evidence gets thrown out??

Nice can of worms.

Besides the provoking that your question seems to be going for, I think the general concept is that most [insert religion here] are defendign what they are taught. I applaud those who study [insert religous text here] on their own and develop their own belief, but for the most part, I think the answer to your question is that it is what they are taught and what they are (from birth) morally blackmailed to have faith in.

The Bible is a wonderful mixture of mythology and history. It is definitely worth studying.

But it is not the source of ultimate truth. It is too full of immorality, ambiguity and contradictions.

yeah. if you ask me, everything pointsb to that its not real. mary was no virgin. she just cheated on her husband. blamed God. and everyone, including her son, believed her.

and if you think about it even more, a lot of the religions talke about some guy, going into the desert or someplace by themselves. then start hearing voices in their head. if someone tried to do that today, we would send them to the insane asylum.

Give up. You'll never get through to people who haul around that beatific smile and answer with religeous patitudes when asked questions suggesting blind faith is nonsense.
