I have read the bible (twice) and the koran (once) completely. I once was a christian. I have completely discounted both documents as being completely absurd for many reasons. Neither book is PROOF of ANYTHING except that humans are superstitious. The bible contradicts itself in a thousand places, as does the koran. Both have scientific impossibilities that cannot be reconciled, such as rainbows being "sent" by god, when we all know that they are formed by refracted light. There is not enough water on the entire planet, in ANY form, to flood the whole world. It is impossible to fit even one of each creature on a 400ft boat. There were giants before the flood AND after the flood, even though every living thing supposedly died. Where are the giants now?

PROVE TO ME THAT THE BIBLE OR KORAN GOD EXISTS AND I WILL DONATE ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO YOUR RELIGIOUS GROUP!!!

Since nobody can prove it, everybody should stop using it as an excuse to make law, or to harm other people. It's stupid.

No one can prove the existence of God (of any sort), just as no one can prove the inexistence of God. However, I believe that there is substantial evidence that God does not exist (that being the inexistence of all those other gods). I, too, have read both the Bible and the Qur'an, and found both to be filled with outright falsehoods and ambiguities. That's why I like Buddhism; everything's just so much simpler (sort of), and I don't even have to believe in a god.

first off, obviously if you have discounted both documents you were never sincere about being a christian. It may seem the Bible contradicts itself, but if you read it with the knowledge and understanding of anyone that can comprehend the scripture, you would realize that it is not contradicting. As for the rainbows being sent by God and being refracted light, the refracted light is sent from God, is it not? And yes there is enough water in the planet to flood the earth, if all the oceans and seas and lakes, rivers, ponds, and all other forms of water were to overflow at once, the world would be in a flood, but it was God's great promise that would never happen again. Giants are considered still alive today, anyone 6'7 or taller pretty much is a giant. If there is no God then how are we all here? You can say you believe in evolution that we all came from that tiny microscopic oranism or whatever, but how did that get there? I have been raised in the church and i have a very firm faith. although at times i may not act like it. it sounds to me, that one day you just got mad at God and decided you didnt want to follow him anymore, because you got tired of being told what to do, or you got scared when he told you what he wanted you to do with your life. I hope you can realize that God is real, and he does exist, before you get sent to hell. remember... Just because you cant always see something, doesnt mean it isnt there, you cant see the wind, but you can see the effects of the wind... you cant see God, but you can see the things he has done. it's a great thing to comprehend and grasp, but once you do, its a wonderful thing.

Good question. Its difficult to study science which is fact and look at religion which is faith. you have to look at it like God created the refracted light that we call a rainbow which is kind of hard to explain. Also everything in the bible isn't meant to be taken literally. A lot of it is meant to be taken symbolically and also the bible wasn't written directly from God he inspired people to write the bible so some of the events that actually happened might have had some differences.
An example is in the beginning of the bible it says that god created the earth in 7 days. This may not have been 7 days because time had not be defined by humans. It could have meant seven different periods of time.

I really believe you sincerely want the proof and it angers you that you find all this other stuff as not proof. If you would just give it one more chance I think you could get the proof by going to God stripping yourself of all your theories and being totally honest with Him as ask Him for the proof. The Bible if not read with the help of God's Spirit can make it meaningless. I would give a million dollars to you (if I had it) to try once more with the Bible and God. Christianity should never be an excuse to do wrong! I myself have gone thru 4 hard years that I never would have made it thru without God!

Nobody can proof to you there's a God - they can only tell you to believe in one based 100% on faith alone.

Why?

Nobody really know God.

There're a lot of Gods out there...
1, The Gods that make us (from Adam and Eve) - some sort of alien from outer space.
2. The God where we can get in touch when we achieve the highest level of mental consciousness - through meditation, etc.
3. The God where everyone say is all of existence.

People like to consider everything powerful and grand as God. But these powerful and grand things (even if it's existence itself) can't be confirmed as God.

In the end, God is where faith lies.

Stupidity is part of human nature.

What proof do you have that their isn't a God of the universe? What do you base your reasoning on? I simply can't see you building a defense of reasoning to your belief that God doesn't exist, if you don't have faith in your reasoning! And if you have faith in your reasoning, what exactly do you rely upon to have that commitment?
You said you discounted both documents as being completely absurb for many reasons. What exactly is your world view? What is your belief of life as you see it?
What standard did you base your conclusion on after reading the Bible? I mean that when we reason out something, there has to be some logical standard by which we draw our conclusion.
We know, of course, that the search for " faith " in something is not based on a blind empty search for anything. Faith does not feed on thin air, but on facts! In the Christian context we have been given the " latitude " and the " longitude " for the search for the ultimate reality. We need look no further than the life, death, and resurrection of the world's pivotal figure, Jesus Christ.
Faith, needs a rational and willing response!
You cannot absolutely defend your reasoning by reasoning! You have to accept reasoning by " faith. " The only question is, Faith in what?

First of all: forget about proof. There is no proof outside pure mathematics. All we have are attempts to account for the data of experience. Sometimes they're good attempts, but frequently even the good attempts end up being falsified later on. When A.N. Whitehead went up to Cambridge to study physics at the end of the 19th century, he was told there was nothing left to discover. Whoops.

So as I say, forget about proof. The question is this: is there a form of theistic belief which offers a more coherent account of the data of human experience than any form of atheism? I'd say yes. Certainly not the traditional theism of the Bible or the Qur'an, which are by and large just unmitigated superstition. But there are reasons for believing in a reality appropriately named "God" based purely on reason and experience.

My own taste in these forms of theism is for process theism, that is, a theism based on the metaphysics of Whitehead and Hartshorne, though these days I tend more towards the semi-theism of Henry Nelson Wieman or perhaps Mordecai Kaplan. If you want a taste of a good, rational theism, not based in any appeal to religious authority or "revelation," look at:

Griffin, David Ray. "Reenchantment Without Supernaturalism."
Wieman, Henry Nelson. "Man's Ultimate Commitment."
ibid. "Religious Inquiry."

And BTW, as far as making law goes: I agree, law should be based on a commonly agreed upon foundation accessible to any sane person's moral intuition. But the fact of the matter is that despite the Bible containing a lot of barbarous crap, it's also got things like the Sermon on the Mount, which bear close examination -- to say the least.

wow-you poor thing.
You can't prove to me that there isn't a God
that's a lot of money, but God would appreciate a dollar more from a giving heart than your million
It's so sad that you use to be a Christian
I am adding you to my prayer list right now
God bless you-He still loves you even though you have turned your heart away from Him

Sweetness, I don't need to prove it to you. all I need to do is beleive it myself. You'll find your face of God or you won't. I'm a Happy Pagan Person and have no need for religion. Faith is just fine for me. By the way I'm blessings you anyways; we could all use one of those. Blessings..and stop shouting at people (it's rude).
