He got a "show" crop so they are slightly longer than normal cropped ears.

I have alreadt gotten them cropped so please dont tell me not to do it.
And no the vet did not give a clue to how long they will need to be taped. I was just wondering how long other boxer owners had to keep them taped.

If the vet didn't know and he did the cropping I would be very surprised. A "show" crop is longer than normal and unless you plan to show the dog, why would you have it done to begin with.

After an ear crop, the vet will tape the ears. The tape should be left on for around 2-3 days. In about a week the stitches should be ready to come out. Once the stitches are out, you need to keep your dogs ears taped for about 3-4 weeks. You should place a post on each side of the dogs ears when you tape them, so they will stand up right. Since your Boxer got a show cut, you are going to have to put a lot of work into your dog's ears to make them stand. Once you take the tape off, if the ears start to droop, you need to re-tape them for about a week more and continue this everytime the ears start to droop.

If you have any problems or any questions, contact your vet. I'm sure they won't mind answering your questions or showing you how to tape your dog's ears.

its makes me curious as to where you were able to get this done, bc nowadays, its illegal in most places, or hard to find a vet who will do it. we have a boxer, hes 3, and hes never had his ears cropped. the boxers before him, all did. i believe they had their ears and head wrapped for 4-6 weeks, with an e-collar around their head as well. i would never do it to another dog, for show or not..

Why the hell would you crop your dog's ears in the first place. It's been illegal here for a long time, and should be made so everywhere.

As to your question- probably until the wounds are completely healed to minimise the risk of haematoma formation.
