So... I allowed my Mom to give this guy my cellphone she works with to ask for a date. I didn't expect anything to happen; not even a call.

Tonight, I went with him, and his buddy to dinner. His buddy practically ran the whole conversation and I said very little as did he. (I'm a quiet person in general, apparently he is to)

Towards the end, we ended up talking as his buddy sat in the car. I told him I was sorry I was so quiet, and his buddy had weirded me out. I was told it was okay, and he didn't even know what his problem was tonight. When he left, he said "See ya later" and looked back at the door at me.

I really like the guy, and would love to get to know him more - without his buddy around. Is it wrong to send a text message to him saying I had fun, and would like to get to know him more, or do I just wait and see if he says anything to my Mom later on, or do I just drop the whole idea and see if he comes around at all ("see you later" is that any interest in me)

Any advice?

Just wait a few days before you text or call. Can't you arrange to casually run into him? See how that goes. I'm all about being safe, not putting my feelings right out there that fast. Why do you have to rush anyway? Have you ever heard the cliche, " good things come to those who wait." You are older now and have choices and more sense than to throw yourself at a guy or rush into things. You might not really want to get to know him anyway, check him out for a little while first. It might save you some heart ache & grief. After all It is your heart and feelings that you need to be careful about. Getting one of those bruised can knock you to your knees for a long time!!!!!!!!!!

If your 12 that whole buddy on a date thingy might work, but if your not just get his phone number and talk to him and tell him that you are interested and want to go out again just the 2 of you and if he won't without his buddy then he's not worth the time....he may need to mature.

There is nothing wrong with sending him a quick note to let him know you had a good time. Maybe you should suggest going out again WITHOUT his friend. My husband and I went out on a "double" date with a girlfriend of mine and his best buddy. It was horrible, we spent the whole night talking to our friends that they didn't talk to each other...

When it is just the two of you alone, you have no choice but to come up with conversation, then you two can really decide if something more can come out of it. I hope he doesn't base his thoughts of going out with you again on the "date" you two had tonight

why would it be wrong to text him? if you had fun and would like to get to know him more, that's cool. it's kind of like when you go on a job interview and you send a thank you letter afterwards-- it doesn't really mean that you'll get the job, but at least they know you're interested to some extent.
so, if you feel like you didn't get to talk to him too much, say so. i'm sure your mom wouldn't mind... she kind of started it any way. and he probably wants to get to know you, but didn't get a chance to. that friend is a real c**k block haha.

Yeah you should text him. Just say "Hey would you like to go out some time? I think you are cool and would like to know you better". This is a message that any guy will "get". :)

I just hope that the guy doesn't pick you up with this other guy in tow. :)
