the answer to your question depends on the type of person watching the porn. The pornography doesn't make a person abnormal, nor does it cause problems in a relationship unless the person watching it creates problems. Here is a list of websites with information, but remember some of them have a religious bias.

Hi Down-to-earth socialite,
You did not state whether it was you or your partner who watch porn or whether both of you do it together?
Nevertheless, if it's you I'll say this as general advice,it's time to quit when the 'movie' informs how you think & against your better judgement. For example you fantasize about the women/women scenarios and you don't have a homosexual bias, or you think you like sex and wouldn't mind being paid well to do it (Not that you're financially challenged mind you) . These may sound very way out there. Or you like being monagomous but see the porn polygamy as something you'd like to introduce to spruce up your single relationship .
Then again different strokes for different folkes.
If you're a mature gentleman and find you are more turned on by watching porn than spending quality time with you're mate in and out of the bedroom it's time for a reality check. Also if you're male and you 'fantasise' regularly or obsessively about having rock hard erections, all the time, every time; larger equipment than you actually possess, incredible staying power, seemingly possessing more semen than normal, and shooting it anywhere form 2 to 3 feet in distance, somthing is wrong! If you also watch it so often that you're dependent on it to determine you're sexuality in any way. In general anything is a problem if it gets the better of you most of the time, and hinders normal function whether it be a physical or psychological thing. Good luck with it.

I would think that for the most part it is overstimulating and excessive. I would think that most pornography is a huge waste of money. Not so much of the subject but the quality and the acting is usually disappointing. Pornography is cheaper and safer than a prostitute or an adult show and bar. But if people want to be freaks it's usually their problem until it becomes yours.

It would be considered abnormal or disadvantageous when it interferes with an partner's ability to function in an established relationship or an individuals ability to form a relationship with someone. i.e. husband forsaking intimacy with his wife because porn is more stimulating.

When the viewer obesess only on said porn. it is when the addiction premise enters into it..as in alcohol
Ask him to choose..you or it..and see how hard he fights for it..if he fights vigorosly..then hes addicted..and its a real problem. If he argues for it..then he has a problem.
But then..some might say your opposition is a problem too.

Judging by your screen name, and the fact that you actually used the word "disadvantageous" in this forum, your man's overuse of porn is prbably just a by-product of him not wanting it from you.
When your woman turns your stomach, you gotta get it somewhere, and if you could disgust me like that in one question, I imagine your dude spends a lot of time with his computer.

For many reasons it's bad in any amount.
When you begin comparing porn ideals to your significant other for example. Where does that lead?

I don't watch porn.
But, I think that anything is dangerous when it becomes an obsession. when people start altering their schedules for something that doesn't better their lives, then you have a serious problem. (Porn or anything for that matter).
