Windows will realease Vista soon, and as expected, it will be expensive! That leave the 2 ultimate questions: pay $400+ for the new feature, and Not! Make your choice.

No, definitely stick with XP for now. Vista is still going to have bugs that need to be worked out, so wait long enough for those to be patched up. If you wait longer, the price will go down as well. Also, software developers will not begin developing programs for Vista for quite a while. Don't jump on Vista just yet, give it some time and allow other people to figure out its mistakes. Then, when all the kinks are worked out, get your own copy.

In a business environment - no. It will take 2-3 years before the dozens of third party software makers that I use all support Vista.
At home - yea, when I purchase a new machine - just to be on the cutting edge as an IT specialist.

I would wait at least a year after release before buying. If you haven't tried Windows 2000, do yourself a favor and try it out. My Windows 2000 install is in many ways, much better than XP

I wouldn't know I would say if your fine and used to what you have don't get it but if you have problems with what you have and you have the money go agead and Microsoft most of the time doesn't release things on time they have a lot of errors and mess up a lot of peoples computers. I had a chance to preview it, It's neat how some of the features worked but I didn't like it, so I went back to XP Pro. Thank God it was free for me to use. I wouldn't pay for it, but then again, I don't pay for all of my programs.

if you are using it at home and want the latest and greatest, go for it, myself i will wait for service pack one ,,, hopefully then most of the bugs have sprayed
