they want to raise their kids christian, or wanted to become christian because that way they would have good morals? Is it unconcievable for someone to have morals if they aren't christian, or do christians just naturally have better morals? Discuss please. I am not trying to offend anyone, it is just a question. personally i dont think religion has much to do with someones morals.

A person who says they're Christian or goes to church can indicate they have good morals. It is hoped they do. Otherwise, they are hypocrites! Of course you can still raise a family with good morals without having to go to church. I'm Christian, and church isn't just about knowing right from wrong or being a 'good' person. You go to church because you believe in Jesus Christ.

Your right one does not have to be a Christian to have "good morals" but the bible lays out a fine set of morals of which one can follow. One can have good morals and not be a Christian just as one can claim to be a Christian and not have good morals. If someone is deciding to raise their children as Christians so that they have "good morals" then they are really doing it for the wrong reasons. Christianity as well as most religion is about faith not morals.

I think it's perceived that Christianity has a larger acceptance and general societal backing, at least in America, than other religions/atheism or agnosticism with moral values. If most people are Christians, the line of reasoning goes, then they will learn accepted societal values through being Christian.

The difference between Christian morals and others may be that Christian morals are selfless and others may be for more selfish reasons.

Adam, morals is NOT the monopoly of any religion. We find excellent people & obnoxious persons in each religious group. For instance, I find more noblehearted muslims than christians.

Well, I think morals came from the bible, so, you would be teaching christian morals whether you were in a church with your children or not? wouldnt you?
