i think most people cling to a certain religion because it gives them hope. People want something to believe in and religion gives that to them, such as they will have wings and fly like an angel. live forever in God's presence. I am not saying either of those are bad. But everyone had a beautiful life on earth, we probably won't need god. so the question really should be, is religion there to keep us blinded.

Heck no. If everyone was rich, you'd just get greedier religions!

I do understand your question, at least I think so. Yes, I believe religion is the thing that provides hope to many when they feel that things in life are out of their control. Instead of accepting that life just is as it is, they pray believing that a higher power will listen and thereby give the individual a way to exercise influence over what would otherwise be outside of their control. That's why those with less power or living under bleak conditions often are more religious. Does that make sense?

Most people cling to a certain relligion not only because it gives
them hope ,,,,they go to learn and love and give and realize what
compassion is ,,they learn to share their gifts with others ,,,and yes
it gives them hope too,,,,if everyone was rich there would be religion
the fact is if everyone were rich ,do you think if they had cancer or
some horrible disease that money would in any way allleviate their
suffering or make their children stop committing suicide or drugs any more than the poor of this world ,,,do you think that even a king is always happy ,,,the fact is many monied people are very
unhappy ,,,not because they have a lot of money but because
they ,,not all wealthy people have lessons to learn like all of us
but they do not get the knowledge because money can sometimes blind you in the sense of careing and learning,
they depend on money and that does not release them from the
pain and misery of bad things that they have no control of ,,,not
even money ,,,,religion has always been a ritual even before the
time of Jesus ,,,instinctive in all people is the primitive need to
honor a greater power ,,,,,they know it without even realizing it ,,,
there will always be religion ,,,,it opens the door of the soul ,,,
and helps to comfort the emptiness of the world ,,,,,I am not
a poor person and I am not a rich person ,,,,but this I can say,,
suffering third degree burns on my back without pain killers to
help me ,,,,and there was a reason for that ,,,it could have been
easier for me ,,,but not at the cost of someone who was incapable of looking after themselves ,,so no morphine ,,,I cried
for three years everyday ,,the only time I had any relief was when
I fell asleep ,,,I looked after someone else who could have died
without my help,,,,,,this is not to say I am such a good person
no ,I am not special in any way ,,,,but the lessons I learned
about humanity and suffering and being in agony trying to look
after another person gave me what no wealth could ever give
what piles of money could not fix,,,,it was my journey and I
went through it gaining greater knowledge of suffering than
I could have never known,,,,,this has made me a different person and
during that suffering ,,,I sensed God in a far deeper way ,,,,religion is not there to blind you ,,it is to enlilghten you ,,and
help you understand the steps you are taking each day have
a profound effect on you and heightens your awareness and
awareness is what all great mystics come to ,,,a higher
awareness makes you see and feel in a different way ,,in
making decisions right down to understanding quickly who you
are talking to and the ways of their life ,,,high awareness
protects you and keeps you safe ,,because your senses
heighten ,,,,I feel you are a young person who has some
confusion and are trying sincerely to figure things out ,,,,if
you wish to be embraced by higher realms then prepare
your life to study or read the higher points of humanity ,,,,I am
not speaking here of psychics or tarot card readers or things of the occult world ,,,be careful there ,,,,,I am speaking of your
own search ,,,,search for your GOD ,,for you are his dearest
child ,,,peace

I don't know about blinded. But brainwashed for sure. Personally, I do not agree with organized religion. Why should I have to give away part of my hard earned money to the church? And if God is truly everywhere, why do I have to go to his building and pay to become a member. People who attend church are followers. I am a very spiritual person, and I do my good deeds and pray, but I do most of this at home, anonymously. I don't sit in the front pew and profess to be a goody two shoes. God doesn't necessarily want that for us.

There will never be a true parity of rich and poor. It simply is not possible with our human nature. Early man must have realized that with no hope and no code to live by that there would be great despair. Thus man created religion, laying out the foundation of how life itself should be managed with the promise of reward after death.

Well then it must be really ironic that America is the most religious as well as the richest country on earth.

I know people personally who are VERY well off and believe in the whole Jesus thing and Christianity with all thier heart.
Their church is a multi million dollar construction and I think the average income church goer in that place must be at least 60 grand per year.

Errrr, that's crap! THINK BIG! The day religious freak hits the lottery they'll scream glory be but still buy a Benz.

Religion will die when money is no longer. You can take that too the bank. Jesus Nutted up because of this very reason and he wasn't religious. That's another question.

It is true that religion is the opiate of the masses, and keeps the poor from eating the rich. If you managed to even out all the resources alloted to each individual, in a couple of years, the poor would again be poor and the rich would be wealthy. It is in the choices they make.

as sasquatch's daughter,

If everyones life was to their perfection, it would make us fear death and leaving our life behind even more. we would just create a new ideal of perfection since being rich would be normal and say that whatever the new perfection is would be what awaited us in the after life. it also would make the belief in reancarnation very popular. as for the conflict part, everyone has their own variation to their beliefs so we would still have conflict, although on a smaller scale.

I believe money is not the problem, the real problem are people, money is just a tool that can help us achieve our goals, the real problem will be then to love money not have it.

This have nothing to do about religions, there are many religious that have money and do things wrong but others do things right.

Ha. No. The richer you are, the more time you have on your hands. For those already so inclined, this will lead to probably even more religions popping up all over.
