Which do you think is better and why? I like cats more because a lot of dogs that I know bark a lot.

I happen to love cats more than dogs.
Even though dogs are supposed to be man's best friend, sometimes the man or woman likes to hang out with a cat as you can tell them things and not get a bark in reply just a look.
Dogs would greet you with barks and they would jump up on you, when cats would greet you with a quiet meow or a loud purr and a leg rub.
I like how friendly cats are.

Dogs or Cats? I guess it depends on the type of person that you are and the type of animal you are wanting. There are pro's and con's when it comes to both animals. I love dogs, but then again, I guess I am more of a cat person! :)

Dogs, for the most part, listen more than cats do. They can respond to different commands, but then again they do bark and can generally be a bit louder than a cats 'meow'.

With Cat's, you won't usually wake up to find a pile of poop laying in the kitchen, they are pretty good to use their litter box. They can be very sweet, but they do have a mind of their own. Although, if your goal is to train your cat to sit, and lay down, dream on.. might as well get a dog! :)

Just a little funny note to add, when I was just a young girl, I thought that all cats were girls and all dogs were boys. I was silly. =)

I tend to be on the hyper side with a list of 24 things to do in 24 hours of which about 5 I may get done. So cats are better for me as they are serene and love to nap. So I would observe them and feel, why not take a nap? They make me realise that the world will go on without all my helter-skelter energy.

I think if I had a dog (s) we might feed on each other's energies and I would collapse from exhaustion. And a dog barking just drives me nuts.

I feel cats are better for me and my family because they do not require constant attention, I can go to work and not have to worry about barking or potty in the house. Plus they make great companions and love attention when you are home and have the time. However I prefer my cats to be inside at all times.. Keeps fleas down and they do not stink and their life span is much longer then a cat that lives outside.

CATS. I love dogs but can't bring myself to pick up poop! I also don't like the fact that they need soooo much attention and they chew things even if you have them very well trained. If I didn't have to deal with the poop thing, time thing and obedience thing I would say dogs...but CATS or so much easier to care for....and I love my babies! I have an orange male cat and the vet called my female "tiger-striped brown". I love my kitties! Also it is much easier to get a house sitter when you go on vacation for a couple of kitties than it is for dogs.

I am a cat person. I love the fluffy soft fur and the purring. But I will say I prefer a dog simply because of the cat box. I hate the cat box. Yuck!

Cats because they are independant and you don't have to open the door for them every time they have to pee, and you can rely on them not to go on the carpet while you're at work/school. They'll sleep with you at night without being an annoyance while you're trying to sleep, and they won't chew your socks, furniture, shoes, ect. They don't jump up on you when their paws are covered in mud from digging in your garden. Bottom line--cats rule.

I can't choose, they both are good for different people I guess.

Cats- Don't need lots of attention, not to huge to sit on your lap, obsessed with siting on your computer and chasing the cursor.

Dogs- Take one walks, teach him/her tricks, very good companion, they also have been known to save peoples lives.

Well, next year I am getting both so I won't need to choose between either.

I like them both, but I only own cats because they don't need as much attention and I work too much!
