I have seen the same people write many many times, after they read something they dont agree with, "i will pray for you" I know that when you pray at night you are not including all the people on yahoo answers. How dare you lie to them and god? To say you will pray for someone does not make you closer to god. Its is a promise that you are making in gods name and breaking. To everyone who was lied to!

When I tell someone on Yahoo Answers that I am going to pray for them, I really mean it! I start to pray for him/her right then and there.

I am not in the habit of telling people I don't know that I'll pray for them. If I feel the need to pray for them, I just do it and don't tell them about it.
But if someone I know is going through something difficult, I do promise to pray for them. If time allows, I say a quick prayer with them right there in the moment. Then I've kept my word, and don't have to risk forgetting someone later.

how dare you assume we are lying
I have a prayer journal
Every time I say I will pray for someone I get it and write down their avatar name and next to it a short subject on what my prayer request should be.
I keep it in my purse at all times.
When I go to pray I grab it and go right down the list.
And yes when you pray it does make you closer to God.
I can't speak for other Christians but I sincerely doubt that they would say this or write it if they didn't mean it.
And honey, I am adding you to my prayer journal right now
God Bless!

Boy! What did you sit down on? Most people are sincere. But by your venomous outburst, I wonder about you. Maybe you should pray to God t be a bit more tolerant of your fellow man. (Or woman.)

Yep, I wrote down all the screen names of the people who have written that to me. Each night, in my nightly wrap up with God, I cross check his prayer logs to see if these people actually do pray for me. Guess what? Only one person in almost 130 answers actually mentioned my screename in their prayer. It is a lie, to themselves, in front of God, and for their own psychological gain, despite the fact that they are actually pissing of God.

When I've heard that, it is said like an insult. It's like saying you're so "messed up", only god can fix you. Chances are, they don't want god to help you anyway.

Which is why I usually don't say that.

Dear Lord Jesus, please watch over and care for these Y!A members, despite their attitude for you. Amen.

Oh, dear! I just prayed for THOUSANDS of people!!!!! All at once!
