Pray- Just talk to Him. Tell Him about life. Thank Him. Lift your struggles before Him. Lift the struggles of others before Him.
Read- Start reading the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) in an easy to understand Bible. The gospels tell about Christ's life from four different perspectives. Make notes in your Bible. Ask fellow Christians for help understanding. Spend time in his word. After the gospels, read Romans, James, Ephesians, and Philippians. Then go to the Old Testament and read the Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah, and then read everything else. Take your time, Really study it and take it all in.
Go to Church- Find a Bible believing Church and participate in every area that you are interested in.
Share- Share what God has done in your life w/ believers and nonbelievers.

In my personal life, I have found that the way to get closer to God is by reading His word. This is true for any person, unless you can talk to he/she one on one. Any time you get a book based on a first-hand account of the author, you know you are reading exactly what he/she was thinking. So is the same concept for the Bible. I haven't been having my daily quiet time as often as I would like, but I know once I finish spending 15-20 min. in God's word, I feel so much better and have gained so much wisdom and knowledge. God wants us to spend time w/ Him by praying, reading, and worshipping, so by doing those things we draw near to Him. And worship doesn't have to be singing like most people assume. You can worship God in your life by serving others, feeding the homeless, singing, picking up trash, even teaching little kids! As long as you "do it all for the glory of God," (1 Corinthians 10:31), you and God become closer.

Well, I reccomend seeing "Facing the Giants". It's the BEST movie and helped me get right with God after a long time of feeling like I've been far away from Him. And it doesn't just have to do with football...it has to do with every aspect of life.
Maybe you could also try praying more and reading your Bible every day. That could help too.
Hope I helped!

Set a time aside daily to specfically pray to God and read His Word. (This is commonly called a quiet time.) I have had one every morning, and I'd say it has helped me a bit. When you geninuinely open your heart during this time, you will learn about God more. Certain things in the Bible will seem to 'pop out' at you.
In the end, you will feel your relationship and belief begin to grow...

The best way to learn about God is to examine his word the Bible. “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ” (John 17:3). “Draw close to God and he will draw close to you” (James 4:8). " And in his law he reads in an undertone day and night" (Psalms 1:2).

Read His word, the holy bible, go to church and pray. Of course when you learn of Him, you will want to accept His free gift of salvation, through His son, Jesus.
