This is a question that's been bugging me.
Christians keep bashing atheists because "it's so unlikely that there could have just been this big explosion and all the pieces of our universe just by chance fit neatly together." Well, first off, *no* they didn't just fit neatly together, it took billions of years to get them that way, and billions more for everything to evolve to what it is now. And even though we can never experience the beginning, we can do experiments to simulate what happened and by that add more credence to our ideas.
How is it any more logical to believe that out there somewhere is some huge, wonderful source of power and knowledge? Seriously, HOW is this logical? I just *honestly* do *not* get it at all. At least we know that what we're proposing *could* have happened. You don't even know if the idea of "god" is possible, theoretically speaking (try proving it to someone who doesn't believe it). How can god be sentient if he is essentially nothing?

I ran out of room!
I wanted to add that I'm not putting this up to bash Christians or people of any other religion, as many people on this forum seem to do. I am simply interested in what other people think about it. Atheists/agnostics, do you agree? Christians, how would you respond to this?

Ok, preachertime, while you didn't really answer the question, I see where you're coming from. Truly, I understand that you're trying to say it's more logical to believe that the universe formed because it was created that way by an outside force and not that it just came out that way by chance. My question was, how is it logical to believe in that outside force? What is that outside force? What is it made of? What is its existence like? I could word it a thousand different ways, but I suppose Christians will continue to ignore the real question because they simply can't answer it.

Secondly, scientists and those who believe in evolution, etc. do not believe based on faith. Faith is, by definition, "belief that is not based on proof." We have proof for what we believe, and we realize that we can't be certain about those things for which we have no proof, unlike Christians.
In science, all experiments are repeated numerous times. We don't even take for granted that just because something happens one way once means it will happen the same way the next time. In science, everything is checked so many times! There is little doubt that what we obtain from the results is anything other than proof!
