I've been asked to come up with a figure of what I would charge to babysit a 4 year old boy and a 1 year old boy from Friday at 3 until Sunday at 7:00pm. Mom and Dad will be at a cabin for a little R&R.
Mothers: what would you reasonably pay for this reprieve?
Sitters: do you have any overnight experience? what did you charge?

hmmm I have 4 year old....they are up usually 12hours of the day soooo...you could reasonably charge 6 dollars an hour for the hours of the day theyre usually awake....about 175 dollars total...I think that would be fair but due to the fact that their is a baby and a 4 year old you could charge more . I have a 10-8-and 4 year old and 1 on the way I wouldnt expect to pay less than 150 dollars....or pay over 200.

In my opinion, $8/hour is a fair price for two kids, even for overnight. You are being paid for your TIME. If the kids are asleep for most of that time, that's not your fault. Firemen work long shifts and sleep in the firehouse but are on duty for emergencies. They still get paid for the hours they're asleep. They're on duty and so are you. If parents want a night away and are willing to leave their kids with a 15 year old (kind of young for an overnight gig) then they should be fine with that rate. Chances are the kids will be waking you up groggy on the couch and you'll have to put on a cheery face, make them breakfast and reassure them that mom and dad will be back soon.

Daaang. First of all, $5 for the two kids until 12:00, when it it a late night charge of about $7, then back to $5 at about 8:00. What is that like.... $152? Ho-ly crap.

I would say AT LEAST minimum wage. Children can be a handful and quite a job to control. Let alone, their well-being is being put into your hands. Probably more than minimum, considering how many you're watching and what age. What are your duties? What is expected of you? Are you spoon feeding the children and changing diapers or are they older than that?
I say AT LEAST minimum wage because (and I don't mean to offend anyone), but it's much more stressful a job than running a register or stocking the shelves at the local grocery store.
I am sure most baby-sitters are underpaid.

I would pay $200-250 for a weekend's worth of babysitting two kids. This is a lot of time to spend babysitting. If they need the time away, they will pay whatever you ask since they already trust you with their kids. Hopefully, the boys both sleep through the night.

Around 150 dollars. I'm a mother and once I was a sitter that got screwed out of 4,500 by my own sister. Watching kids is alot of work make you should get paid at least 100 for over night.

Girl, that is over 50 hours. I would at least charge $300. What would that figure? That figures 6 per hour. That sounds reasonable. You have to remember, that is 24 hours per day and that is also your whole weekend.

I would think about $150. that is a fair amount. besides when they sleep, you will sleep. thats a lot of work. again, you dont want to charge exactly by the hour, but tell them you have to get them dressed, changed, feed them often, play all day, and bathe them.I would pay this much. gesh, thats two kids for $150, (75 ea) that's fair.

I would pay minimum $100. You are expected to be responsible at all times, so keep that in mind in case they wake up sick or scared all night. Maybe more if you are cooking, cleaning, or chores.

As an overnight sitter for one family I was paid 7.00 an hour, for another I was paid 5.50, it all depends on the family.
