John 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
We cannot question why God allows suffering, but the scriptures reveal that it will always be beneficial to us in the long run.

I do not know why you are blind. Perhaps it is genetics, perhaps an illness, you did not say.
All of us are born with some defect, all of us. Yours affects you daily, while for some, it doesn't show on the outside. But your attitude makes all the difference in whether it will be devastating or not.
Go ahead and ask God why, and seek the answer in His Word.

You must come to be considerably open to resolve to the answer here, for nothing that occurs in the physical plane is rooted in the physical plane alone. I should say here, there 'are' indeed ways to know quite on point why you are without sight. Do know that this one absence of the sense of sight is not due to some punishment. So you will want to right now to fially begin to put this sort of consternation aside and begin your healing from the deepest and broadest side and perspective, for in this way you have access to a most deep and golden pool of wisdom, light, and sound.
But you must go within and entreat for the guidances that will avail you of the knowledge of why. It may come by any number of ways -- not in some one instance necessarily but according to the rate at which you can undergo the truth of it without being thrown off balance. For example, it might come by way of a guidance materially or spiritually; it might come by a dream, a vivid dream; or an unusual man or woman of knowledge, it may come by any number of common or miraculous ways.
But point is, if you truly wish to know why, then the truth will be given to you verily, or it may come at once; it all depends. Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? Yes again. Know that it is only you who you are trying to know about -- not someone else; therefore, fear not of violating anything or any laws, whether material or spiritual.
Know this, your condition is directly spiritually related in nature, as all conditions are ultimately; and for some, quite tangibly.
Conditions, talents, obstacles -- name it -- have their bases in realms that far surpass our immediate capacities to conceive of them. But nonetheless they exist and are as real as bricks and houses or a good home-cooked meal, see?
Unfortunately -- not for you but for virtually all society -- souls incarnated particularly in the Western Hemisphere have little facility to conceive of and understand why circumstances evidence such as one might observe them.
Try things. Be open to inner nudges, those curious inner nudges, for these quite often will be coming from On High. This will require some meansure of practice at first so that you can better discern the ways of the mind from those of Divine Spirit Itself.
But I tell you this, it can and 'will' occur if you allow it to. You may get a nudge to visit someone on a healing path or spiritual path. For example, answers might come to you by way of what some might call "waking dreams", in which something you see curiously coincides or resonates with the matter before you. It may be a voice in a crowd that out of no where you hear speaks the very words that ironically match the very query that you need answering, or some curious experience or feeling that comes whose timing is uncanny, one that you would think is impossible and would at first glance of it all would dismiss.
But no, this will be Divine Spirit acting and moving, see?
Get the mind out of the way of it, see? The mind is a powerful servant but an extremely poor master.
Now, point is, just be open to what comes your way, for whatever comes will be what is the best route for you to take toward arriving at the answers.
This again could be by conventional means or supernal. Don't dismiss anything out of hand, see?
These shall constitute your very first steps. All right, more later...
