Every Christian has a different interpretation of the Bible as well, so I guess we're all going to hell.

No one who tells you the truth of God would be doing you a COURTESY, to tell you the Bible is theory, because that would be a lie. It also sounds as if you prefer to hear things people like you tell you. Well how are YOU doing so far? I can admit that I need the assistance of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. Just remember, if you meet God unsaved, you won't be able to use the excuse, "I didn't know". You have plenty of opportunities. If you have a problem with Christianity, take some time and look into it. The Bible, not what more people like you say. If I wanna learn algebra, I'm gonna find a teacher, not someone who dropped out, and discuss how stupid it is.

very brave question
I'd answer it like this. Most people aren't even capable of thinking of things that A)are too deep for them or hurt there heads or B) are too terrible for them to think of. Truth is it's scary to think that when you die you die or something other than if you live in the eyes of god he'll reward you at the pearly gates with another life in eternity. Christians (and to be fair other religious people) aren't stupid but more often just stubborn or scared. Believing is how they cope, most people need something. Nevermind the fact that most of the things the christian and muslim and even other religions proclaim are just downright impossible or mythical. A good example of such stubborness is that the Vatican didn't even admit the earth was round until the early 90's (no I'm not making that up)
as illogical as it may seem to you and me and many others it seems logical to them. Acceptence is the key because it is simply just human nature for religious and non religious people to butt heads. People loathe any sort of differance and when you ask the questions that they can't answer they feel defeated and you have just dealt a huge blow to their ego. Basic psychology, when you prove somebody wrong they're gonna take it personally.
I must admit that i'm even the same way sometimes

I don't say I'll pray for you or God bless you. I simply pray and cry over that person's soul. The song, I forget who it's by, about What if we're wrong, what if there's more, what if the arms that catch you cathc you by suprise. And it goes on about what if God really was the way. Why not just take the chance? You are taking the chance of being a non-christian. Really, what is it going to hurt taking a chance on something that might could be true? If it's not true, then it's just not true and you just die. But if you died and it was true... you get the idea. By the time you start looking, you'll find that the answers are with God.

I agree, many Christians can be closed-minded and hand out the "I'll pray for you line." However, not all Christians take everything their church teaches as fact. Many Christians, including myself, take what we learn in church and research it in scripture and through prayer to make sure that what was preached is backed up with evidence.
I have had a rough life: Grew up in foster care because both my parents were drug addicts and alcoholics. My biological father is a child molester. I've had numerous medical problems my whole life wich have led to a kidney transplant in 1996, 2 ear surgeries, 2 hip surgeries, more than 2 eye surgeries on both eyes, 6 years of being on dialysis and many other medical things.
My search for God, and my faith in Him have not come from the church telling me to believe. It has come in my own personal relationship with God while going through the good and bad times in my life. I have found God in the wind, in a flower, in a child's laugh and even in the face of tragedy - God is there.
I can not comprehend having such an intricate world and universe unless it was created by someone bigger than us and all powerful.
So, ask me how I can trust in something illogical? My faith is not illogical at all. It's been tested through a lot of garbage and tragedy. To me, and to many others, a belief in God and His son (Jesus Christ) is the most logical thing about life.
For those of you who go around wondering why you feel alone, empty and forelorn... it's because you are looking for peace in the wrong places and things. Ready the Bible, open up your hearts and minds and, if you really are open, God will speak to you and you WILL find Him.
Tell me my faith seems closed minded? I believe that my Savior, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sinse and everyone else's, then was ressurrected again on the 3rd day after his death. How much more open-minded do you want me to be?
Christianity is not a religion - it is a RELATIONSHIP with God.

It may be hard for people to trust people who base their entire lives on the Bible, but thpse who live their lifes based on God's Word are supposed to be the most trustworthy. REAL Christians should not just answer a question they don't know with just a little "I'll pray for you" but also with a "That's a really good question, let me have your (e-mail/address/phone#/etc.) so I can get back to you when I find an answer to that question", and then they actually follow up on their word by finding the answer to that question and getting that answer to said person. Also, when you answer their question, don't just recite the passage of the Bible that you found your answer in, but also explain to them WHY the Bible is right in that case.
You might also consider showing people LOGICALLY why there must be a God who created the world and why EVOLUTION is so much more of a blind leap of faith than Christianity. Mark Cahill likes to use the example of a wristwatch. If you take all of the components that make up a wristwatch, put them in a shoebox, shake it around for 20 minutes, open up the box, and expect to find a working wristwatch with everything in its place, then you've just insulted your own intelligence. Likewise, if we think that all of the components of the universe were just thrown together in a cosmic shoebox and thrown around for billions of years and VOILA! the universe and life on earth just MAGICALLY appeared is an EVEN GREATER insult to your intelligence. I STRONGLY encourage you to read "One Heartbeat Away" and "One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven", both by Mark Cahill (I really like this guy, in case you hadn't noticed yet!). His books are very logical, make perfect sense, and are life-changing. You will not be the same person after reading these books; I know I haven't been! I hope this answer helped solve your question; let me know if you want me to expand on anything, but I think Mark Cahill would do a much better job of that.
By the way, Mark does answer e-mails sent to him, so don't hesitate to e-mail him with any questions you have. You can find his e-mail address at his website, www.markcahill.org . Again, I hope this answer helps you out!

Terry T,
Is it that they are stumped? That would be a lot of information for you to have in one posting on a site like this. Believe me, those like you that are so sure of their sources tend to follow a belief where the first one you come across that says something to deny the Bible must be right. On a site like this, there are no rebuttals, or at least limited ones. So the Christian that sees this occuring, all they can do is pray for you, or say, "God bless you." They recognize that the blinders are fully in place, and you do not see what they can see, and that is the truth in Christ. We believe that He is our only recourse, and they are being both intelligent and kind by offering prayers for you.
You should thank them.

Actually...us Christians are a little brighter than you give is credit for. We don't take everything we hear as fact and we do research as well.
Perhaps you shouldn't stereotype us. There are good and bad people in all walks of life.
I also can see that you have/had a problem with Christians. Perhaps the issue is within you and not with us?
take care

Maybe your right, maybe we do say God Bless you or I will pray for you to quickly. Maybe we should put more effort into trying to define our beliefs but as Christians I think we realize that it is our responsibilty to tell you about Jesus but not our responsibility to convict you, that is Gods job through the Holy Spirit. Maybe we say will pray for you because your position is so far away from ours we dont understand it and we know that God can do anything including change you. I believe in Jesus because I see and feel the difference he has made in my life. I am a better father, husband and friend than I ever was before. I know as sure as I breath air that Jesus Christ died to save me and came out of his tomb 3 days later. I know I serve a living, holy, God who created me for his purpose and I have a choice just as you do. Please open your mind and heart to the possibility that you need Jesus too. Thanks for listening and I am afraid I already have prayed for you.

We Christians are only human - like you. We don't know all the answers, and shouldn't pretend that we do. Perhaps we're all idiots and know nothing, or perhaps we're referring you to the One that can answer any question you've got. Or perhaps you should ask some of the Christians who do research and study what they believe in. They may be hard to find, but they're out there.

we say we'll pray for you cause the lords says where two or more are gathered i will be there and it's a greater emphasis on he's there for you and that he will awnser your question or your need it just might be his will to do it right then.
if we were a world of bible says so ppl then we would all have a longing for something more to fill us and there would probly be less ppl wanting to die because thay feel alone. it would also be a more prayerful society that would be longing to be with God, longing to be with their eternal father who loves and cares for them more then anyone else ever could.
