So like joeseph smith translated the book of mormon, reading the golden plates through a hat, and someone wrote what he said. then the writer tells his wife, and she's all, "How do you know he's not lying? he could have easily made it up!" So she took the book, and tolf the writer to go tell joe to write it again, To see if he was telling the truth.
What do you know? Joe made an exuse and made another version.
And Yes, I got this story off of South Park
But then I read it online, and its true.
Joe Made it all up!
What do you think?

The event you have described did not occur, for one Joseph Smith did not translate the gold plates through a hat, but through revelation. What you have described sounds somewhat similar to the event that occurred, involving a man named Martin Harris.
Martin Harris served for a time as a scribe for Joseph Smith, writing down the scripture that Joseph had translated. Martin Harris believed in the truth that Joseph had proclaimed and he was willing to donate money to help Joseph live while he was finishing the translation of the plates. Now, Martin Harris's wife was suspicious, as she did not believe Joseph Smith was really translating true doctrine and she felt that Martin was throwing their money down the tubes, so to speak. She then pressured Martin to show her proof of the work the men were accomplishing.
By his wife's insistence, Martin asked the prophet Joseph Smith to allow him to show the 116 pages that had been translated to his wife. Joseph asked the Lord what he should do in the matter, and the He said that it was not a good idea. Martin eventually asked Joseph two more times; on the third time the Lord said okay but he still thought that it was a good idea. Joseph pressured by Martin reluctantly handed over the 116 pages and instructed Martin Harris to show the pages only to his wife.
The pages were eventually taken by a group with evil intentions within their hearts. This group changed the only current copy of the 116 pages, so that is Joseph Smith was to translated from the same section of the gold plates it would "prove" that he was not translating by revelation, by the discrepancies between the true translation and the changed one.
Joseph did not translate from the same section of the gold plates, but was instructed by the Lord to translate the small plates kept by Nephi, the son of Lehi, which held an account of the same events written in the 116 pages translated, but by the son of the original author (who was Lehi). Thus Joseph Smith was able to share the true doctrine, without retranslating the section in which the group mentioned earlier had corrupted, but translating from a different source.
Hopefully this information will help you in your quest for the truth!

How about going to the actual source instead of things like South Park and anti-mormon web sites to get your information? Would you ask a garbage man how to perform brain surgery? I surely hope not.
Joseph tranlsated the plates through the power of the Lord, not in a hat and never did "another translation" when the 116 already translated pages were lost. They are still lost, we have no idea what they said, they are not in the current Book of Mormon and have never been since they were lost.
I think people should actually try reading it before deciding whether or not it's false...do you let other's make your mind up for you?

Here is what we believe. Joseph Smith, around the age of 14, was trying to decide what church to join. He was confused, but felt that going to church was a good thing, yet he still couldn't choose. One night while reading the scriptures he was impressed by a verse from James chapter 1. It says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering." In Joseph Smith's own word he said "Never di any passage of scripture come with more power to the heart of man than this did at this time to mine. It seemed to enter with great force into every feeling of my heart. I reflected on it again and again, knowing that if any person needed wisdom from God, I did;" After a time of pondering the young Joseph entered into a quiet clearing in the nearby forest and prayed. There he had what we call the First Vision. This does not mean it was the first vision ever, just the first in this dispensation.
He was there directed to join none of the churches because none of them had the full truth of the gospel, but he would be the source upon the earth to restore it. Several years later, when he was in his 20's an angel, by the name of Moroni, came and delivered to him plates made of gold covered with ancient writings. This he was to translate through the gift of the Holy Ghost. He did, with the help of several scribes. They never say the plates while he dictated because they set up a partition inbetween them.
The story that appearently got mixed up with this is the story of the lost 116 pages. Not long after Joseph began dictating the scripture (by the way, he never had so much as the last word repeated to him, he always picked up exactly where he had left off) his scribe, who was Martin Harris, asked to have what they had accomplished so he could show it to his wife. They were stolen and changed by those men. Joseph did not retranslate them.

Do you believe everything you see on a silly cartoon, or even on the internet. Both are riddled with opinions.
I say that if you want to know the truth about anything, you need to find out for yourself. The bible tells us that by their fruits ye shall know them. Look at the works of Ol' Joe Smith. Read his book, the Book of Mormon. Then you can do the ultimate test and ASK GOD himself it is true or not.

Well, its no more crazy than any other religious stories. & its the same story, just told by a different guy how is that so crazy. I think you need to do a little more research before you have any room to talk! There's a lot more to it than that! But I did like that south park episode, it was funny but I don't take that show too seriously.
