Sometimes parents, particularly controlling moms, have a hard time letting their children grow up. He should just smile, tell her loves her, and keep on making his own decisions. She'll get used to it.

because they have nothing more interesting to talk about than politics. I hate ppl that put so much on how you vote and if you say you don't care (which I DO care about who is in office but I don't sit around and blabber my viewpoints all day long) then you get labeled a Liberal and that is just blashempy to diehadr demo or repubs. Tell her that if she can't see him for more than his political views she needs to get some other hobby.
Maybe they can scrap book or bowl together LOL

It's just human nature. Just because you dint agree with some doesn't mean you don't love them. He'll i talk bad about my brother all the time but still love him that P@nk
