Deliberate blindness

Nothing makes people thingk that... or nothing should. Of course they did, but not all. Some tribes were peaceful while others weren't. Some fought in a more civilized way.

Too, some of the more babarous things attributed to them were European inventions, such as taking scalps.

Perhaps some expand on the peaceful nature of many tribes to include all. People are people.

WELL...
THE MAJORITY OF THE TRIBES WERE VERY PEACEFUL AND EACH HAD LAW AND ORDER INTACT.

WARS BETWEEN NATIONS WERE FOR VERY GOOD REASONS, MOSTLY OVER NATURAL RESOURCE TERRITORIAL REASONS. IF A TRIBE MOVED IN TO ANOTHERS 'HUNTING, FOOD GATHERING' GROUND, THEN THERE WAS A PROBLEM...USUALLY THERE WAS AN ATTEMPTED MEETING, AND IF THAT FAILED THEN OF COURSE A FIGHT WAS INEVITABLE.

IT WOULD BE LIKE ME MOVING INTO YOUR YARD AND EATING ALL YOUR VEGETABLES, THAT YOU PLANTED, GREW, MAINTAINED AND DEPENDED ON, FOR A CONSISTENT PERIOD OF TIME. YOU WOULD BE UPSET, BUT IF YOU WERE NATIVE, YOU WERE TAUGHT TO APPROACH AND SOLVE WITH YOUR SPEECH, BEFORE RESORTING TO FIGHTING. IF I REFUSED TO LEAVE...WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

THE NATIVE PEOPLE WERE A VERY CIVILIZED NATION. WE DID NOT "WAR" FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON.

IF YOU FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT WE DID HAVE LAW AND ORDER, DO SOME RESEARCH.

A PERFECT EXAMPLE WOULD BE THE U.S. CONSTITUTION...IT WAS MODELED AFTER THE IROQUOIS CONFEDERACIES LONG STANDING LAWS...IT WAS FOUND TO BE THE LARGEST MOST ORGANIZED ORDER KNOWN TO ANY COUNTRY AT THAT TIME...GOOGLE AND YOU WILL SEE.

I think pretty much everyone knows that they had war, and took slaves. But the difference is - they didn't intend to wipe out entire civilizations because of differences. Why DON'T people think that Europeans did that?

I've never heard anyone think that... People did fight, but not generally out of hatred like we do now, mostly just out of protecting resources people needed to survive.
