Would it have been better,or,would it have been worse?Would it be better,or would it be worse if there was a major change about this?Personally,I believe that it would be better, but,I just want to know what others have to say about this.I could name several reasons why I believe it would be better, but, there's only so much time & space.

They should have never started the celibacy thing. People are instincively programmed with biological needs. They have hormones pumping thru them and having these basic needs denied affects their psychology. I know people say they should overcome that or whatever but what's the point??? God made us that way so I don't think he cares nearly as much as everybody thinks he does. If priests were allowed to marry it would change so many things in the Catholic church. With the scale of how many priests have molested boys there has to be a correlation there. Plus it would send a really good message to society. It's like they haven't done nearly enough to curb or punish the molestation so it's like they're sending a message that heterosexual sex is wrong but they condone gay molestation. Makes no sense.

Priests are allowed to be married, or at least some are. Such as if an Episcopal priest who's married decides to convert to Catholicism and still be a priest, he is allowed. Most priests don't have time for a family, and are busy taking care of the people of their parish. If they were to marry, it is a possibility that they would overlook either their family, or their parish. St. Paul also says in 1 Cor. 7: 17-40 why it is better to remain single. I hope to become a nun someday, and my reasoning not to marry is that I can have so much more of a family (my church: brothers and sisters in Christ), I would imagine that many priests and nuns feel the same way.

Priests and Nuns are given plenty of time to consider their choice to remain celibate before their final vows. However I think they should be allowed to leave the order if they find it's not for them. They should not continue to be Nuns however if they choose to marry because they can no longer dedicate their lives to Christ. They would need to be dedicated to their husbands and family. That raises the question. Can they have a divorce from Christ (they are all brides of Christ) to marry. Priests don't have as many complications. However what else have they trained themselves to be if the were to leave the Priesthood? Could they support a family?

Well - it would have made it alot easier to be homophobic.

If a priest was not married, then everyone could sit around wondering why not....
Maybe some altar boys would have been better off.... ;)

But ultimately, I think the idea was good. Be COMPLETELY devoted to God.... not another human.
It's just such a tall order to fill.... most people are not capable.

Nuns and Preists might want to be ready to marry whomever they desire, the picture of something persons. it is a effective, constructive reform which may breathe life decrease back into the clergy, help the clergy connect with the similar old church club, and may want to extra cut back the prevalence of sexually risky, guilt-ridden preists. until eventually any such reform occurs, notwithstanding? The Church is headed downhill, and quick.

I definetly think it would be better. Here's my opinion--I really believe that God did not intend for priests and nuns to be unmarried(or anyone for that matter). I do believe that He wants everyone to devote their life to him, but if those were his intentions I really don't think he would have created Man and Woman...so yes they should be able to marry and maybe that would put an end to priests who molest children!!

Well, the Catholic church might not owe 12 billion to the kids who were abused by their priests. Well, that might only work if they allowed gay marriage.

The Nunnery wouldn't be an orgy on Fridays anymore.
