Assuming that OS takes 3-4 gb, u will always be running out of space.
Anyway, if u don't want to buy new HD u can use backup utility, this will save the most important files wherever u want (CD/DVD, USB drive).
as for backup utility i'd recommend True Image
But, frankly speaking. it's much better to get another HD.

I think , you have upgrade your PC .I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful

If it's that small, it's probably very old and will need other upgrades, as well. You should think about buying a new or used more recent machine. Otherwise, go ask your question here:

Why can't you go and get a bigger harddrive or an external harddrive for more free space? They are getting cheaper and easy to install and use.
