im in high skool. im not mentaly challenged but the kids that are have their own classes at my skool. theres these 2 in my art class, of coarse they dont do the same things the rest of us do. iv always gone to private school until this year, my 1st year of HS and iv never ascosiated with the mentally challenged until now. they sometimes talk to me, im nice to them. i thought they had something where they had the brain capacity of todlers (like 4-6 years old) but now im confused bcuz 1 of them has developed a crush on a boy her own age in our art class. im not sure if this will help but they are both short and chubby and speak in deep voices, their both girls. one is extraverted and the one with the crush is extremely shy and scarcely speaks to any individual although she often repeats the same phrase aloud. and they both like to show people their artwork. is it possible that they have different dissorders? what is it called? why do they have it? what are all the symptoms? whats wrong?

Are you sure you're not mentally challenged? Your question reads like it was written by a five year old. When asserting your intellectual superiority, I strongly recommend the use of proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and diction. Children ages four to six are not considered toddlers (that generally refers to kids from about 18 months to three years). Having delayed intellectual development is referred to as mental retardation. These are things that I would expect a high school freshmen to know, particularly one who has had the benefit of a very expensive education thus far.
There are many forms of mental retardation. One common cause of mental retardation is called Downs Syndrome, and is caused by an extra copy of chromosome 23. People with Downs Syndrome typically have a short stature, are heavy-set, and have certain characteristic facial features. Based on the very limited information you provided, that's my best guess as to the cause of your classmates' delays, but you haven't really provided enough information. People with mental disabilities have unique personalities just like everyone else, so the two girls in your art class might have the same condition even though their personalities are quite different. Based on the physical similarities you described, I think this is likely, but there's really no way for me to know for sure what's going on.
People with mental retardation may have the intellectual abilities of a much younger child, but their bodies mature just like everyone else, hormones and all. It's perfectly normal for a developmentally delayed teenager to be sexually attracted to a member of the opposite sex, just like anyone else her age might be. Sexual attraction, which causes you to have a "crush" on someone, develops independently of intellect.

This is a very difficult question to answer. I have to say though that I am surprised that you are in high school and now realize that our country is in serious distress if the future of America has the same spelling requirements as you have had. However, to attempt to answer your question is that you should inquire with the instructors who teach the kids in question. They would likely be the most informed source for you to go to and ask. I would also have to agree with another reply to this question in that these kids are just like you with genuine emotions and do get hurt when "normal" kids pick on them.

why not ask them? Youre question was written very tactfully, I'm sure you could speak the same way, or perhaps ask your art teacher. Explain that you aren't trying to be rude, but that you'd genuinely like to understand them/their behaviour. It's great that you are nice to them because they would probably never be mean to you or anyone else, so they don't deserve that themselves. I don't know very much about mental health though so I couldnt answer what their disorders are. Which is why I suggest asking someone who would. Maybe you have a friend that went to the same public school and knows some of their history.

i can't tell you what they have because i don't know them but it is very possible that they have two different things...one could have downs syndrome and the other have autism..you just never know...but the "differently abled" kids do have feelings, thoughts and emotions...so it is not unatural for them to have a crush...even those that can communicate still have thoughts...just because they can't communicate them doesn't mean that they can't think...

With your grammar and punctuation you have no right to be making semi-rude remarks about what you call "special kids".
