Ugh. With chocolate, you'd be better off with beer. A stout of some kind. Or even better, try having Ommegang's Three Philosphers. It's the price of a cheap bottle of wine, and infinitely better. As for steak, just make sure the wine (or beer) is powerful enough. A nice salty steak will turn most red wine to tannic water in a heartbeat. When I do try the pairing though, I stick with Bordeaux style blends. (the Cabernets!)
Cheers!

Most will tell you port with chocolate, but Yalumba from Australia does a Museum Release Muscat that rocks chocolate like you can't imagine. Raisin and nut flavours and a crisp finish.
Steak is a hard word to pair. A delicate flavoured steak like a fillet a Pinot Noir would be great. A big fat rib eye and a big fat Cabernet is likewise yummy. Playing it safe I'd choose a Chianti, best I could afford, should pair with any steak you choose.

Generally speaking, you serve red wines with red meat such as steak. I'd recommend Shiraz or a cabarnet. For the chocolate, usually some kind of dessert-like wine, such as port or sherry. They're a little stronger, but they complement chocolate.

I'd serve a nice Brunello di Montalcino or a Chianti Classico with the steak, especially if it is grilled. I'd stick with one of those with the chocolate as well; I don't care for the combination of a sweet wine with chocolate--I prefer the roundness of a big red with the richness of the chocolate.
