Sorry to say but I'm guilty of that as well and I'm a woman. In our defense, we are joking. Let's face it, there's always pro and cons to every side. The single life is carefree and married life is abundant with love; however, the single life is lonely and married life can be stressful and high maintanence. People equate being single with freedom to live while marriage feels like a prison. I personally believe that nothing good comes easy - that pertains not only in relationship but in all aspects of life (careers, education, parenting, etc).

They are trying to save you from waking up next to a woman who is no longer physically or emotionally the woman you once started dating. After awhile marriage become a business arrangement. It's all about making babies and providing for them....this isn't 'fun'...it is biology. You have to go out there and bust your *** and get that promotion so that you can get the kids into a nice college and buy your wife that nice convertible she has been eyeing (she has decided to take a few years off of work to 'find herself') and you wake up every morning hating life but knowing you have to go on because you do love your kids, even though the drive you nuts, and while you no longer love your wife the way you once did, you just don't know how to get out of this damn mess without losing half or more of everything you own and not being able to see your kids anymore.

They haven't found the unconditional love that keeps a marriage strong to the point where they should be praising marriage encouraging young men to find a perfect lady to grow old with.. storm are a part of marriage it's how you come threw them that makes the love even better

This is a very selfish outlook. Marriage is about being social. Marriage is about commitment. Marriage is a big part of our cultural existence. A man who advises not to marry is a man jaded by unrealistic expectations of marriage.

I recommend you go do some research on marriage and its function in society, its benefits to the participants, its benefits to a culture. It wasn't until I became a Christian that I began to understand the critical role marriage plays in our survival as a society. Picture yourself at 40, you've got 2.3 kids and they are now dating guys like you and your friends used to be and some still are. Now are you going to send your daughter out there with little or no apprehension as to what she will experience in a society that doesn't value marriage? One where sexual encounters are as common place as handshakes? One where no commitment is involved beyond sharing the rent and bills? Remember Terry Shiavo? No, don't listen to jaded men who didn't have healthy expectations of marriage in the first place.

Because they miss the freedom they had to do as they wanted. When your single and fight with your girl you can just walk away, but you can't do that when she's your wife without going to court first. And at the time they said these things to you they weren't happy at home don't want you to go through what they have. But marriage is and will always be give and take and it's up to the individual to make it a good or bad time.

They probably found the wrong girl to marry and rushed it. Enjoy life but don't not marry cause some married guy made a mistake.

The point that is being made is once you are married your life will change. Being single gives you the right to do what you want when you want to do it. Married life does not afford you that right. Hope this helped somewhat. Good luck in your search.

Because they miss that special freedom they had when they were single and f--king every girl in town without any guilt in the world..It was that way especially before we ever even heard of aids and other diseases that were transmitted by sexual contact. Also because a wife knows when a husband is cheating on her...
just by the look of his face....so he envies you for being single...
