Not sure if I agree with jibberjab. I tried installing a different program a 4th time and received the message that I had already installed 3 times. I was unaware that there was a 3-times limit.

Personally, I would suggest a total, full reformat, then install WinXP, and exercise more care from this point on. It's not worth the aggravation.

Before reformatting, try booting into "Safe Mode" by tapping the F8 key during startup.
Once in Safe Mode, go to the choice for "System Restore", and turn that off. You'll get a warning not to, but do it anyway.
Then run your anti-virus program. Hopefully it'll catch the virus. Then exit from safe mode and reboot. After it reboots, see if your pc is running properly again. If it is, go back to System Restore and turn it on again.
If the need to reformat occurs after that, then you can do so.

As long as you are reformatting and reinstalling XP on the same computer, you can do it as many times as you wish.

do you have an antivirus installed and running? If not, download Avast antivirus and run it. Maybe that will catch and delete it.
