i had my lip pierced on my left side of my lip about 3 months ago and i'm just really sick of having to spend $5 everytime i lose a little ball that screws onto the post. and the jewelry places obviously wont take them back if you don't have all the pieces.
if i let it close, will it leave a scar? if so, is there anything i can put on it before i get a scar?

It matters on what type of skin that you have. When you have had a puncture wound in the past how has it healed? Is the scar flat, and light in color? Is it raised and bumpy? If you are of a darker complexion it may take longer for the scar to fade into the tone of your skin. Some people get raised scars called keyloids the look as if you have had trauma. This may be caused by being a result of genetics or ethnicity. If you do have a history of this type of scar, you might want to go to a dermatologist to see what he/she says. There are several topical applications that are available over-the-counter that you can find at many drugs stores. But a word of caution: makers of products WANT you to buy their product, even if it is not effective. Beware of claims that say about immediate results and make unrealistic promises. A scar is a normal response for any body. It will be pinker/darker and will fade with time, unless of the keyloid variety. Good luck in finding what works best for you.

Yes, it will leave a scar, but only a little one that is about as big as the tip of a pencil. I had my bottom lip pierced for a short time and then decided it wasnt the look for me so I removed it. It did leave a very small scar. It is so small that most people dont even notice it unless i point it out. If you use a very good skin moisturizer like cocoa butter it is possible that it will make the scar heal to be more discrete....its definitely worth a try =) Good Luck.

First off, I wouldn't recommend taking the piercing out, especially if you have had it for three months already.

Since its almost completely healed, you will get a scar.

However, I do have a simple solution for you if you're tired of the prices in the jewlery stores. I have my lip pierced as well, so I know how much it sucks to go to those places. They sell like, a package of three balls and three posts or rings for six bucks.

Check out that website. You can get a ton of body jewelry of all kinds...And for the same prices that you would pay in the stores.
