Because food/eating is in the category of pleasureable activities(I think Freud put that in the same category w/ sex, ect), could one of the reasons that I overeat be that I'm not getting enough of other pleasures?

If you overeat and get fat, then you can't enjoy anything. Yes, you could be using food for comfort for alot of reasons. But when I gain weight, I don't want to have sex. I feel yuck. And it makes you tired all the time if you overeat....and no one will want to make love to you....so stop eating or figure out WHY you are eating....don't tell your spouse you are fat because you don't get enough sex. That's horrible.!!

Definitely. It triggers feel-good chemicals in your brains. I would suggest you seek other sources of pleasure. It will take a while but it's worth the practise. I started by buying myself some flowers, and you'll be amazed how beauty nourishes you better than a doughnut does.
Good luck!

That makes sense to me...A lot of people overeat because of boredom, depression, unhappiness, loneliness, sadness..etc.,etc.,....

I completely agree with this theory! When people don't have other satisfactory, happy occurances in their lives, they can turn to food to provide that for them.
