Take four smaller pom-poms in the colors for your schools/organization/etc. (if you only have big ones, two will do at each table) Put two going in one direction, two facing the other diection, and you can then cover up their handles. Then you just spread them out just a bit to make a circle. Then get the very small football replicas or other fun sport items, and put them there as well.
If you would like, another easy idea are the very small orange cones used for track meets (most schools have a supply of these) and then you can put a few carnations inside them as a centerpiece.
All very cheap, with materials usually quite handy.

if you need to do this on a shoe string budget try getting leaves either real or manufactured spread them down the center of the tables. get brown construction paper and cut out footballs, draw the stings on them paste them to a stick 2 football cut outs per stick, put that into florist foam that is in a small flower arrangement make goals out of material that is similar to lollipop sticks and put them at the end of the leaves on the table. you can find all these things at your local hobby shop like A.C. Moore

You can make an assortment of old classic black & white football pictures to put as center pieces I'm a big sports fanatic and there is nothing better than being reminded of the games that made history.

purchase wooden dowels and cut them to size to form goal posts, hot glue them in place then wrap them with colored twine to match the team colors, purchase foam blocks (the type for flower arrangements. and set each goal post in the center of each block. cover the blocks with flowers and set in a card at a slant in the center below the goal posts with the number and name of each team member or coach, etc. one name per table, or 2 as you could set the cards back to back.
